Vale a Pena Ver de Novo is a block of telenovela reruns aired on TV Globo, being the first rerun program on the network's afternoons from Monday to Friday. It premiered on May 5, 1980, with the re-airing of Dona Xepa. Currently Mulheres Apaixonadas by Manoel Carlos, is being rerun for the second time in the session since May 29, 2023.
Why It's Worth Watching Again
- Before Globoplay and Canal Viva were created, the block is and still is very important in the history of Rede Globo, as it reprises several successful Globo soap operas that viewers had already seen on the channel for several years.
- Is also the only current session of Globo, which is not a movie session that air movies, but a session dedicated to the reruns of soap operas on the channel, what makes the block unique how it is.
- Reprises various good Globo's soap operas like Vale Tudo, Tieta, A Viagem (1994), Mulheres de Areia, O Cravo e a Rosa, Laços de Família, Chocolate com Pimenta, Da Cor do Pecado, Mulheres Apaixonadas, Senhora do Destino, Alma Gêmea, O Clone, O Profeta (2006), Caras & Bocas, O Rei do Gado, Caminho das Índias, Cheias de Charme, Por Amor, Êta Mundo Bom!, Avenida Brasil (the first novela das nove to be aired in the session) and A Favorita.
- Good openings, with the openings of 1990 until 2013 (the 2005-2013 opening is a great example of that) with the same logo being memorable, even the 1980-1989 opening is good and despite the current opening used since 2013 having bad vocals (see BQ #2), it makes a nice tribute to the first opening used in 1980-1989.
- Along with Sessão da Tarde, are the only programs airing to this day on Globo's Monday to Friday afternoons for many years, while programs such as Vídeo Show and Malhação have unfortunately been cancelled.
Bad Qualities
- Você Decide was not a good choice to be rerun in the session in 2001, given not only the program wasn't a soap opera, since also it only brought worse ratings of 10 points, due to the session was already facing low ratings since the rerun of Tropicaliente in 2000, and the ratings of the rerun of Você Decide were worse than the ratings of the previous rerun of Roque Santeiro in the session, which was only 13 points, and the rerun of the program in the session was highly criticized by viewers, and because of the negative reception, only 15 episodes of the program were rerun in the session. Fortunately, the ratings were recovered by the second rerun of A Gata Comeu in the same year.
- While the current 2013 opening makes a tribute to the first 1980-1989 opening, the vocals of the current opening since 2013 are awful, since is just only nananana, which ends up ruining the current opening like the current opening of Sessão da Tarde, also used since 2013. They should have used the program's sponsorship instrumental instead, since it would fit very well in the current opening unlike the vocals.
