Will's Dilemma is the 3rd episode of Season 3 and the 15th episode overall of The Inbetweeners
Plot
Wills goes on a date with Kerry while Simon goes on a date with Tara. However, Will's dilemma turns out to be a trick as he does not like Kerry due to her height.
Qualities That Hate Will
- The problem with this episode is that Will wants to date Kerry, but he does not like her because of her height and her stereotypical behavior about getting blowjobs in order to get a double date, which makes her a yandere and makes no sense.
- Another problem with this episode is Kerry, a yandere who loves blowjobs, to whom she dates Will just for sex, especially on Neil's birthday.
- Neil is oblivious, then later he is out of character, in this episode. At first, he starts dating Kerry in the mall for a double date with Simon and Tara, but it turns out that he does not like her because of her height. He could have avoided that situation by finding a woman who does not have a habit of giving males blowjobs or any sort of annoying habits.
- Both Neil and Jay are a bit unlikable for teasing Phil Gilbert and buying a sticker, "HONK IF YOU WANT A BLOWJOB" in Waterside Mall. While this gives them a "months after school detention" for mentioning the mall's name, it is cruel to Neil as he is his birthday. In reality, if it is his/her birthday, they should be happy about it, and it is not nice to act out of character.
- Jay even makes "beep" sounds, which is annoying, luckily Simon tells him to "fuck off" afterward.
- When Simon's parents see the bumper sticker Neil bought, they scold Simon, even though he did nothing wrong. The entire scene makes Neil an asshole like he jizzed the car seats in Simon's car in Caravan Club.
- This is cruel to Simon as he is proven innocent and the viewers would want to feel sorry to him when it is actually Neil who placed it in the first place, and not to mention, it is Neil's birthday.
- The infamous scene is Will breaking up with Kerry because of her height. While his action is justified, he answers back to the partygoers at Neil's birthday party by telling them that Kerry's father died last month and calling Kerry "Empire State Building". Worst of all, Kerry yells to Will, "I HATE YOU!", while crying at Neil's birthday party, which is not only cruel but also would feel ashamed to Will, thus causing Neil's dad to call him out for not going to Neil's house forever.
- The writers were okay to let Will make a scene to Kerry and the other partygoers while she is crying about her father's death; when in truth, it is actually Kerry's fault for letting Will date with her because of her height, which is insulting since dating with someone who questions about the looks or height would make them angry and they would easily break up once they cannot have sex. It also implies that it is the writers' fault for making this kind of scene, and as a result, the viewers would make a laugh out of it, which makes this scene comes out as too mean-spirited.
- At the end of the episode, Will is grounded for 3 weeks by Neil's dad calling Will's mother for ranting at everyone at the birthday party and Neil states that his birthday party is awesome as Kerry gets multiple blowjobs on the bed upstairs, proving how oblivious Neil is because of the incident; this shows that Kerry's conclusion comes up as pointless. Later on, Simon says to his friends that Tara would be upset with Simon about the incident; these situations are questionable as the main cast shows no remorse to their actions, not even saying sorry to Kerry, despite being a Yandere, and Mr. Gilbert about Jay and Neil's terrible actions.
- As Kerry gets a blowjob to Neil, she never gets comeuppance for her actions in treating Will harshly to have sex with her and the writers instead had Will get his comeuppance instead, making her a Karma Houdini overall, proving that the writers are terrible in this episode, and causing the viewers to feel sorry to Will for his accusations.
Good Qualities
- Simon, Tara, and Neil's dad the only likable characters in this episode.
- Will is likable in the first and second acts in this episode, despite making a scene in the third act.
- The opening scene where Jay attempts to ride the motorcycle is the only good scene in this episode.
Trivia
- Simon says to his friends that Tara would get upset to him, which foreshadows the next episode, Trip to Warwick.
