Because it's the worst year of my life again.
It's looped around and pulled me back in. Yesterday has come again. Oh no. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Worst Year of My Life Again! | ||||||||||||||||||||

Not to be confused with the 2016 Lionsgate film, Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life

Worst Year of My Life Again is an Australian children's television series that was produced by the Australian Children's Television Foundation and Reflective Pictures for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. This show was aired from April 26 to July 19, 2014.
Plot
Alex King, a 14 (15, if the first year has passed) -year-old student faces a series of tortures during each month of his life. When he had a disastrous life, he would skip to a second year and fix his life each month, again.
Why It Is The Best Year of Alex's Life
- The premise about Alex King fixing his disastrous life by skipping to another year is an interesting plot.
- Likable characters such as Alex King, Simon Birch, and Maddy Kent.
- Great voice acting for each episode.
- There are a great number of episodes:
- Happy Birthdays
- Valentine's Day
- Beach
- April Fool
- Match Day
- School Play
- Concert Tickets
- Christmas
- The Last Day (the episode that ended on a high note, despite the cliffhanger)
- Some funny moments in this show:
- Alex King getting tortured due to his luck (for the most part);
- Nicola Gray screamed when she saw a Grim Reaper (who was Alex King in disguise) in the auditorium;
- Students exposing Alex King in his boxers (one during the health class, with female students, comments "Is that some sort of a fashion show?, and the other one running around in the auditorium until he enters outside of the school), twice;
- A soccer player kicking a ball on Alex's crotch, multiple times;
- Most of Alex's misfortunes can be hilarious to watch.
- The opening theme song in this show is phenomenal.
- The chemistry between Alex, Simon, and Maddy is good.
- Some heartwarming moments in this show such as the students cheering at Alex in his boxers when Simon announced that he is the "king of getting pranked" and the trio having fun in Alex's house when Alex's life was a disaster.
- Alex gains some character development in the second year in each episode after he has done so far in the first year.
- Some good lines like Alex's line: "Quick shout out today. 14-year old Alex King, it's his birthday. That's me!" and Parker's line: "Alex King and I are definitely not in love."
- As mentioned before, the series finale, "The Last Day", is a good way to end a show on a high note.
Bad Qualities
- The premise itself rehashes the live-action Mr. Bean, but for children, due to the main character making misfortunes.
- Some of the bad episodes:
- Sam's Party
- Maths Test
- Cross Country
- Halloween
- Alex King can get tortured by some bad luck, which causes his life to become a disaster.
- Some of the scenes that are not good for children such as Alex King getting arrested when the old people saw a Grim Reaper in the hospital, thus the police arrest him, Alex King vomiting ginger ale at the party, his vomiting after Nicola spins him, and several people seeing Alex's Speedo.
- Some of the unlikeable characters such as Parker and Quinnford Norris.
- The Last Day ended in a cliffhanger where Alex King started his first day in the first episode, which can be heard when his alarm clock rings. However, that scene was in the first episode.
- This show ended in one season, which is disappointing.
Reception
This show received 7.5/10 on IMDb and 94% liked this show in Google users.
Trivia
- The title was also reused in the 2016 film, Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life. But this movie has no connection to this show, due to different plots and characters, but they have similarities for both:
- The main characters (Alex King (Napier) and Rafe Katchadorian (Gluck)) face any bad events in the TV show/movie (the former's bad luck and the latter's breaking the school rules).
- Both schools are middle schools.
- There are villains (adults) in these two (Quinnford Norris (Brisbane) and Ken Dwight (Daly)).
- The main characters have two friends (the former's Simon (Boxhall) and Maddie (Cupland) and the latter's Leo (Barbusca) and Jeanne (Merced, formerly Moner)).
- Bullies in both media (the former's Parker (Speight) and Howe (Erck) and the latter's Miller "the Killer" (Hopkins), though the latter has only one bully than the former, having only two).
