Bye Bye, Bellum (The Powerpuff Girls, 2016) is the 7th episode of The Powerpuff Girls reboot.

Plot

The Mayor of Townsville needs a new assistant after secretary Ms. Bellum gives notice. But after he hires Bianca Bikini, who just broke out of prison, she breaks her ape sister-in-arms, Barbarus, out of prison as well, then they kidnap the girls. Now it's up to the Mayor to save them.

Why This Episode Needs to Go Bye Bye

  1. First of all, this is one of Nick Jennings' most controversial decisions yet, as he basically removes Ms. Bellum, the Mayor's assistant from the show as apparently, he thought that having a beautiful, intelligent, and strong-willed woman would offend the new generation. But they replace her with a stereotypical one called Bianca Bikini, who only cares about fashion and is yet another sexist stereotype. Not to mention, she's also a prisoner.
    • This is also hypocritical as he allowed the girls twerking in the episode "Painbow", which was written by a pedophile.
  2. Some dated references here, such as when the girls made very expressive and over-the-top faces when wanting to play a video game.
    • Speaking of which, the name of the game, "Dragon Wizard Skateboard Fighters", sounds kind of generic and sounds like it's trying to sound cool.
  3. Plot Holes:
    • Who in the whole wide world would take a 1,000-day vacation? That's literally the equivalent to 2 and a half years!
    • How could following a to-do list take 7-8 days? It would normally take 2 days unless the girls goofed off in the middle of it.
  4. Barbarus, Bianca's sister-in-arms design, looks ugly and disturbing and looks like a monster rather than a human.
  5. The "7-8 days later" time card has a cyan background, random symbols, and an orange font saying that with the number being in a notepad square, which is pretty lazy. Speaking of which, this is the only scene, along with the ending that the Narrator says as he isn't in the reboot.
  6. The girls barely do any crime-fighting here, until the end where they punch Bianca's sister-in-arms.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The Mayor is still a tolerable character, and the girls were (sort of) tolerable as well aside from the expressive and over-the-top faces as mentioned above.
  2. The ending was okay with Bianca and Barbarus getting imprisoned after the Mayor and the girls beat them up. Then, we get a little throwback to the original show's ending with the narrator finally saying something and Ms. Bellum seeing the Mayor in the paper and enjoying her vacation.
  3. Funny moments here, including:
    • The Hotline ringing and the girls not wanting to answer it due to playing their new video game. They decide to play rock paper scissors...despite having no fingers.
