Double Trouble is the 5th episode of the 1st season of Teen Titans Go!.

Synopsis

Cyborg tricks Raven to create a magical double of himself and Beast Boy so they will both always have someone to play with.

Why It’s Double Troublesome

  1. Nonsensical Beginning: The beginning leaves us with more questions than answers: Why are Cyborg and Beast Boy playing juvenile games? They are actually playing games that young child would play not teenagers, like hide-and-seek and play pretend. They are teenagers, not 4 year olds. Also, they are playing games that ACTIVELY HARM EACH OTHER. Aren’t they supposed to be best friends? Best friends are not supposed to hurt each other.
  2. Not mention, the premise is very unoriginal because the whole “clone the main character” plot is very tired and other done as it has been the premise of many pieces of media for decades now.
  3. Understandable not wanting to get tormented by Beast Boy, Cyborg tricks Raven into cloning him and the sequence is uncomfortable because it shows Robin disgustingly eating two sandwiches and Starfire drying her hair with two blow dryers but it looks like she’s getting her face blown off.
    • Soon, Cyborg and Beast abuse Raven by making many clones.
  4. Cyborg, Beast Boy along with their clones are extremely unlikable as they create chaos around the tower.
  5. The clones spilling ice cream everywhere is disgusting.
  6. Cyborg crying is actually very sad to watch and you actually feel sorry for him.
  7. The “getting rid of the clones” scene is stupid.
  8. Bad/Ripoff Ending: The ending of the episode rips off the Fairly OddParents episode, “Add-a-Dad” where Timmy wishes for many clones of Mr. Turner, his father to spend time with him. Annoyed, he has them adopt an uninhabited planet and build an alien society. Likewise, all the Cyborg and Beast Boy are all relegated to an uninhabited planet and unlike the former, the Cyborg/Beast Boy planet is never seen again. Rendering the entire episode completely pointless.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. At least Cyborg and Beast Boy injuring each other is treated as a negative thing.
  2. The “Caveman and Dinosaurs” game that Cyborg and Beast Boy play at the beginning of the episode, while childish, it has shows Cyborg cosplaying as Fred Flintstone from Flintsones is actually clever and not insulting.
