"Fairly Odd Baby" is the first episode in Season 6 of The Fairly OddParents, and the fifth television movie. Cosmo and Wanda have a baby together named Poof.

Plot

When Timmy wishes up a baby for Cosmo and Wanda to fulfill their never-ending desire to be parents, the anti-fairies and the pixies join forces to use the baby's untapped magic to take over the universe. It's up to Timmy, Cosmo, Wanda, and Jorgen to make sure the first fairy baby born in 10,000 years is safe with its new family.

Why It Poofed Into Existence

1. The concept of how fairies are born is interesting.
2. It introduces the viewers to Baby Poof, the son of Cosmo and Wanda, and he is incredibly cute.
3. It's very sweet for Timmy to wish up a baby for Cosmo and Wanda, seeing as they saw everyone else have a child of their own, as well as the fact that Cosmo and Wanda still want to continue being parents.
4. The animation from here, to season 10's, "Chip Off the Old Crock!" is at its best here, since Billionfold Inc. started to co-produce the show with Frederator Studios from this point forward, and it looks wonderful.
5. The voice acting is also still great as usual, especially Poof's cute voice by Tara Strong, which is great since she also voices Timmy.
6. Anti-Cosmo and the head pixie are good villains for the episode, as they plan on capturing Poof and draining his magic to destroy Fairy World and the earth.
   • Seeing the two, along with the other anti-fairies and pixies team-up is very creative for a special like this.
7. Because he is an infant, Poof's magic is initially uncontrollable, which is why he sought to be captured by Anti-Cosmo and the head pixie when he was first born.
8. It's understandable as to why Poof was unable to control himself and his magic, since he is just a baby, such as when he cries, bad things happen, when he laughs, good things happen, hiccups lead to natural disasters, burping leads to lightning, and breaking the wind resets reality, similar to exaggerated time control.
9. Several hilarious moments, such as when Jorgen breaks the fourth wall when he said, "while the camera zooms in on me dramatically".
   • "Why did you do this to me? Look at me! I'm fat!"
10. Good ending where the world is saved and returns to normal, the villains are defeated, Poof is given a rattle that can control his magic at last, he stays with the family, and they start to have fun at the house with his magic.
    • It marks the end of Jack Thomas' The Fairly OddParents! career in the heartwarming note.

Bad Qualities

1. This episode is widely considered to have led to the downhill trend of The Fairly OddParents, due to the, "jump-the-shark", moment, where Poof is introduced. Regardless, not many episodes revolved around Poof, to the point of spotlight-stealing, nor did the dynamic between Timmy, Cosmo, and Wanda change that much, meaning that the show's quality from this point onward remained stable, if only somewhat, unlike what it eventually become.
2. The characters can be idiots at times, particularly in the self-aware humor scenes where they are seen flying on jets, even though they can just fly or poof, given that they're fairies after all.
3. The humor, despite some of it being hilarious, is very repetitive, like usual.
4. It can be pretty unfairly mean-spirited towards Timmy at times, particularly when he wishes that Cosmo would get lost, due to being sick of his non-stop barfing on him, and everyone gives glares at him, as well as when Wanda blames him for getting Poof kidnapped by Anti-Cosmo and the head pixie, even though Timmy had no control over that.
5. Cosmo being the one to conceive Poof struck some controversy at the time of its original airing. As it offput viewers, reviewers even said “this episode would’ve been better if Wanda was the one who got pregnant.”
6. The way Poof’s gender was revealed during the diaper change scenes offended viewers because Timmy stated Poof’s a male because “boys love water squirters”. While it’s likely to censor a urine stream going on Wanda, female viewers were not pleased with this because “all genders play with water squirters, not just boys.”

Reception

The episode received generally positive reviews with praise primarily given to the new character, Poof, and was the most watched The Fairly OddParents! episode, with a total of 9.1 million viewers. Despite this, not all reception for the episode was positive, as many consider it to be a major turning point for the show, due to Poof's introduction, and episodes that aired afterward relied too much on, "whacky baby shenanigans".

• Before the premiering of this episode, some fans did not like that The Fairly OddParents! would be having a new main cast member. However, most of those fans have come around after the episode aired and/or by the time the week of new episodes following this one was finished.

Trivia

• This episode marked the uncancellation of The Fairly OddParents!, which had previously ended, alongside The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, with the double-series finale, "The Jerkinators!", and/or, "Fairy Idol".
• The scene where Cosmo yells at Timmy (specifically when he said "LOOK AT ME!") would later become an internet meme.
