Father in Law (Zig & Sharko)
Another one of those amazing episodes.
Series: Zig & Sharko
Part of Season: 2
Episode Number: 4 (82th overall)
Air Date: October 15, 2015
Previous episode: "Back to Civilisation"
Next episode: "Stuffed Animals"

"Father in Law" (French: "Beau Papa") is the fourth episode from season two of Zig & Sharko and the eighty-second episode overall. It was written by Hugo Gittard and storyboarded by Julien Thompson.

Plot

In this episode, Poseidon comes to visit his daughter. Sharko is under pressure to make a good impression. But Poseidon doesn't think the shark is worthy of his daughter. Sharko is devastated. Zig and Bernie offer to help him...

Why It Is A Great Father

  1. The main characters are likable, even if Zig for the most parts betrayed Sharko for capturing Marina, which despite that, it will give one of the best episode of the whole series.
  2. Amazing animation as usual that is possibly the best of the entire show, because it is extremely colorful, detailled and overall had lot of efforts put into it, it even make you wonder if this episode wasn't mean to be the episode with the most efforts due to how good it is.
    • In fact, some of the scenes such as when Poseidon save Sharko, it look so well made that it is almost on par with other great looking medias such as Rayman Legends or even something out of a very well made 2D show such as The Amazing World of Gumball (even if that show art style look better than Zig & Sharko due to being composed by different art style).
  3. The chase sequence in this episode is not only entairtaining, but also a reference to the video game series Super Mario Bros.. This is the second episode to have a reference to the series, the first one being "The Island Tour".
    • This chase sequence would later inspire the mobile game Pixel Run, and one of the Zig & Sharko game released on Mobile, which was a pretty decent game.
    • The gorilla with a barrel is also a reference to the 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong.
  4. This episode had a lot of very funny and entairtaining moments such as when Poseidon moustache search something up to free himself so that he can get Zig down, or the scene where both Zig and Sharko simulate a scene where he scream and Zig simulating hurting screams, they are so funny that it may be one of the most funny episode of the whole series.
    • Another very funny moment would be when Bernie tried to capture Marina, but failed because Poseidon did seen it and prevented him to capture her.
    • There's also the moment where Sharko jump on Zig until he's really hurt, which while a bit painful, can come of as absolutely funny and is a great slapstick humor.
  5. The way Sharko and Poseidon team up is very well executed and is even better than other episodes with Poseidon.
  6. Very good soundtrack that fit the episode tone, such as the scene where Poseidon save Sharko, or when both Sharko and Poseidon chase Zig, in which the musics had always been catchy to listen to for this show.
  7. The scene where Poseidon save Sharko is very touching and heartwarming, and it show that Zig & Sharko isn't just about comedy but also emotions (sometime).
  8. The plan of Zig to try to eat Marina here is possibly one of the best because instead of directly try to eat her without checking if Sharko's here, he litteraly do make him think that he will follow Sharko plan, until the time where Bernie did make something fall on their head and after that, Zig betrayed Sharko to capture Marina, which by the way also given an amazing plot twist for a slapstick show that had episode that only last 7 minutes.
  9. Good Ending: Sharko and Poseidon saved Marina from Zig and Bernie and the way that they did beat them was funny too.

Bad Qualities

  1. The first plan of Zig in the beginning of the episode was pretty bad because when you're in the underground, it is hard to see where you want to get out and it can be a bit dangerous if there's something very heavy that fall on you.
  2. Marina was a bit unlikable at the end of the episode due to rejecting both Sharko and Poseidon at the end by getting them out of the castle.

Trivia

  • This is the first appearance of Poseidon.
  • There was originally going to be a scene where Marina shows Poseidon her castle, where he offers her a merman in a plastic packaging for a husband, which she then promptly throws off the island.[1] This was cut out from the final version, for unknown reasons.
