Just when you though that they wouldn't doing a Frogger game as bad as The Great Quest, they did almost worse than that game by making it horribly frustrating and almost unplayable.

"This isn't the video game though, it doesn't qualifying. There's just a step away from mailing the player pure amonia about the bottom of bleachs, and it 10 dollars next to invoice to their next camp! I think that i've earned the right to decide the fate of this game legacy and i have decided that i kill Frogger 2! This game will be buried alongside me in Frogger Inferno which is a real game i did not make up! This game need to die with me, next week, i will be dead next week!"

Frogger 2 is a sequel to the original arcade game. It was released on Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360 on June 11, 2008. This is the third game to be called Frogger 2, the others being Frogger II: ThreeeDeep! and Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge.
Gameplay
Frogger 2 features fifteen levels set in five different environments which Frogger attempts to avoid obstacles and enemies and boss battles. The game also contains two multiplayer modes: Race and Jewel Duel. In Race mode, players compete to finish an original Frogger-style level in the fastest time. In Jewel Duel, players compete to claim a jewel.
Why Frogger Can't Return at Home
- The main reason why this game is so bad in the first place is that it might be one of, if not the most horribly designed, Frogger games in existence. With the level design and the enemy placements, these will all be explained with the next pointers.
- The level design is absolutely abysmal and is even worse than in Frogger: The Great Quest, since most of the levels are extremely hard for almost no reason, and you will most likely lose a ton of lives and will even want to throw your controller away at times. The level design here is so bad and so hard that it makes Frogger Beyond look like an easy game compared to this.
- Abysmal graphics that look like it was ripped off a Flash game on PC, since they lack details, are way too bright, and also try so hard to be cute but fail; in fact, they are so bad that even Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World looks better than this, and it was released the same year and on the PS2, which is far weaker than the Xbox 360.
- It also doesn't help that it not only looks like a flash game but also looks like a mobile cash grab game, due to how badly made the graphics are, and the game in general also feels like a mobile game.
- The character design is for sure cute, but the problem is that the sprites are also bad, since they look undetailled and also look flat for a 2008 game.
- To add insult to injury, some Xbox 360 games that we're releasing in 2008 look better than this, such as Sonic Unleashed, Mega Man 9, Far Cry 2, and Ninja Gaiden II.
- The game doesn't even feel like it's an official game, despite being published by Konami. This is because of the hideous graphics, the awful soundtrack, the poor gameplay, and the overall nature of the game; it even looks like a bootleg game. Yes, it's this bad.
- In fact, it isn't even surprising that this game is this bad and doesn't feel official since it was developed by Voltex, which makes a lot of bad games, especially for the Xbox Live games, since all of them are terrible games and poorly received by critics.
- The game is extremely overpriced for a game of this low quality; it cost 9€50, which is way too much, and you can get much better games than this that are for the same prices or cheaper games too; even Sonic Adventure on the Xbox 360 store cost less than this, and it was a better game that got more effors than this, and it was a game released in 1998!!
- Abysmal gameplay that is a massive downgrade from not only the 3D games but also the 2D games such as the Arcade original or even a downgrade from the unreleased Game Gear game, since here you just need to autopress the d-pad and Frogger will continue to move, unlike the other games, which make the game losing completely the fun of the Frogger franchise and thus, making it one of the worst gameplay of the entire franchise and showing how much of a cash grab this game is.
- The 2D formula is massively downgraded here, since just can no longer jump, and the gameplay is way more simple than the 3D games or even the GBA duology, which used the formula of the original but still added new things to stand out and had a way more complex gameplay than the arcade game. Here, it just feels like an extension of the arcade game, but just in a modern way, and is horrendously executed compared to most of the games after Frogger on the PS1.
- The game is really short, since with how poor the content in this game is, you will finish it in just one hour.
- No replay values, and while there's a multiplayer, it is severely flawed and doesn't do much replay values, the levels doesn't had any secrets or hidden areas, making it having even less replay values.
- There is zero voice acting in the cutscenes, which is not only a missed opportunity but also unnaceptable since the 3D games, for example, such as Frogger Beyond or even Frogger's Adventure: The Rescue, had voice acting in their cutscenes, which was great to hear, but it might be understable considering that Frogger is much younger in this game (or at least it looks like it).
- Speaking of the cutscenes, they are quite lazy, much like Sonic Free Riders; the cutscenes are just static images with zero animation, to the point of looking like cutscenes from a Game Boy Advance game but remade in HD to fit for an 8th generation game, though at least the art style is decent and the dialogue isn't so bad.
- The hit detection is absolutely horrible, since sometimes you might go to a mobile platform, but the game is so badly programmed that you will instead fall in the water and lose a life, and while Frogger Beyond did the same thing at times, it wasn't to this extent.
- This will, of course, make the game unplayable due to not only the controls being incredibly terrible but also the fact that the hit detection makes it even worse and also because of how atrocious the level design is.
- The hit-detection with the enemies or the obstacles is at its worst in the series, since sometimes they kill you even before touching you and touch you slighly before they actually have contact with them.
- Horrible soundtrack, that makes the game feel even more like a bootleg. Here is the problem: While the soundtrack isn't the worst, it is severely annoying to listen to, completely ear-bleeding, and it doesn't even feel like it's come from Frogger; the main theme, for example, is incredibly bland and ear-bleeding. Also, at times you might even forget that the music was playing; in fact, the flaws of being unfitting and bland are far worse than in The Great Quest, because while that game had unfitting music and some bland ones to listen to, at least the soundtrack was still decent, but here it is just so poorly composed and is even to the point of being so bad that it doesn't feel like Frogger at all.
- Also, the soundtrack is incredibly loud, to the point of being even more ear-bleeding; in fact, if you had your TV with the song bar set to 100 and forgot to turn it down, you would surely get a huge issue with your ear after. That is how bad it is.
- The main theme is also a horrible remix of one track from Frogger: Helmet Chaos, which sounded good in that game, but here, much like Sonic 4: Episode I, this game had a soundtrack with a horrible soundfront, but unlike Sonic 4, even if it wasn't for the horrible soundfront, the soundtrack would still sound bad, even if it were a little better.
- Awful controls that are incredibly stiff, clunky, and unresponsive to use, since when you control the d-pad, as stated before, it continues to move until you stop using the d-pad, which might make you get cheap deaths, or the controls can be unresponsive when using your tong to gain some of the collectables, and they are also incredibly sluggish.
- The enemy placements are an absolute atrocity, annoying, and so much worse than in Frogger Beyond. No words or actions can describe how atrociously bad they are since they are placed in the worst place possible, and some of them are either easy to pass, while others are extremely annoying.
- In fact, they are at their worst in the last levels, since they all are in places that are very hard to dodge, and not to mention that you can't kill enemies too, which would make more sense, but no, this is even enough to make the levels even worse than they already are, which can also be responsible for how atrocious this game truly is, and is one of the main reasons why this game is probably one of the worst games of all time and maybe the worst game of the entire franchise (yes, you heard us, this game might be even worse than The Great Quest!!!)
- Generic ending that invole Frogger saying bye to his frend, and it end like that, yep, that it.
- For some weird reasons, it was only released on the Xbox 360, but it isn't even that big of a deal due to how horrible this game truly is, and due to how bad it is, the PlayStation and Nintendo players will likely never even get frustrated that this game wasn't released on the PlayStation and Nintendo consoles.
- Not to mention that this game made the franchise go downhill since after this game was released, they did make other terrible Frogger games or some of the absolute worst things of the franchise, most notably Frogger Returns, which was an improvement over this game but is still an awful game, or even Frogger 3D that was beyond awful too, and these two games did kill the chances of the franchise ever coming back to console games, with the exception of the Arcade original game to be ported to many new consoles.
- This game, much like Frogger on the PS1 is extremely frustrating and is one of the most tedious Frogger games to ever exist, since for the most part, the game had fake difficulty to the point of being really annoying and you die often for no reason, and due to that, this game is a perfect example of a game with fake difficulty.
- The enemies, as said before, are poorly placed, and they are all extremely annoying to deal with, since for a lot of times, they are either placed in the worst place imaginable but also are very hard to dodge. This is especially true with the lava levels and the last levels.
- The hit detection also contributes to making the game extremely hard for no reasons, as stated before, such as the platforming, the horrible collisions with the enemies, and also because of how horribly programmed this game truly is.
- The mobile platforms are even worse this time and are the '"absolute worst in the entire franchise. First off, these platforms are incredibly slow, annoying to land on, and also had horrible hit detection once again.
- Despite being said to be a sequel to the arcade original, it hardly feels like it and feels more like an extension of it than a sequel. Despite adding a story, this is even to the point that if it were a sequel to Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge it would make sense, even though this game is also called Frogger 2.
- Overall, this was a horrible return for Frogger to get a new game, not to mention that we had to wait almost 3 years to get a new Frogger game, and this was definitely a huge disappointment. Also, this not only ended up being one of, if not the worst game of the franchise (yes, even more than The Great Quest), but also one of the worst games of the entire Xbox 360 library, one of the worst games of the Xbox Live exclusive, and especially one of the worst games of all time, along with The Great Quest, and remember that this game did make the franchise go on a horrible downfall, as stated before.
Redeeming Qualities
- Despite being a huge downgrade from the previous games, the character designs are cute and aren't really bad, even though they are a bit childish.
- The art style of the cutscenes is fine to look at and is probably the only real strong point of the game, despite the cutscenes not being as great as some of the 3D Frogger games.
Reception
Frogger 2 received extremely negative reviews by critics and players, and is considered to be one of the worst Frogger game (right before Great Quest), and also one of the worst Xbox 360 game ever made and even one of the worst game of all time.
The game had a score of 37/100 on Metacritic, GamePro give it a 3/10, Tottaly360 give the game a rating of 1/10, and Official Xbox Magazine UK had given the game a 3/10, making it one of the worst reviewed game to date.
Noodle did considered this game to be unimaginably terrible, and even said that this game doesn't even qualify to the video game genre, he also criticized the cheap graphics.
