Henry Danger is an American comedy television series created by Dan Schneider and Dana Olsen that premiered on Nickelodeon on July 26, 2014. The series stars Jace Norman, Cooper Barnes, Riele Downs, Sean Ryan Fox, Ella Anderson, and Michael D. Cohen. The show ended on March 21, 2020. Later, it got a spin-off called Danger Force on March 28, 2020, a week after the final episode aired.
While the last two seasons of the show is well-received (2017-2020) and is considered a big improvement as they feature less filler and focus more on a continuing plot, the first three seasons (2014-2017) however was not well-received due to the problems list below.
Plot
If Henry Hart's buddies knew what he did after school, he would be the most popular kid in class. Henry lands a part-time job as Kid Danger, a sidekick-in-training to super-crimefighter Captain Man. The perks are awesome: $9 an hour, high-tech gadgets to use and - best of all - Henry gets to save the world! Yet he must keep the gig secret from his best friends, Charlotte and Jasper, and little sister, Piper, even as adventures with Captain Man throw Henry's life absurdly out of whack.
Bad Qualities
- Similar to Teen Titans Go! and seasons 6-8 of SpongeBob, most of the episodes are either stupid, bland, annoying, idiotic, nonsensical, or have horrendous plots that are nothing but pure filler, such as:
- "Substitute Teacher"
- "Man of the House"
- "Jasper's Real Girlfriend"
- "Christmas Danger"
- "Mouth Candy" (The worst offender)
- "Sick & Wired"
- "Love Muffin"
- Most of the endings to the episodes are either unsatisfying, anti-climatic, or mean-spirited, with "Mouth Candy" being the biggest offender.
- In fact episodes like "Captain Jerk" and "The Bucket Trap" (episodes about keeping Henry's secret from Piper and Jasper) are completely alienated and pointless in the later seasons now that the two find out about his secret.
- Lousy acting, especially from Ella Anderson, who shouts 3/4 of her lines when portraying Piper, her acting got better by season 4 though.
- Most of the characters are rehashes of characters from previous Dan Schneider shows (mostly the ones from Drake & Josh and iCarly) and are very unlikable and annoying in their own ways.
- Henry Hart/Kid Danger is a very bland and cliched protagonist. He is also a poor man's rehash of Drake Parker from Drake & Josh.
- Charlotte Page is a typical Mary Sue who is the punching bag. While she is justified with being arrogant and sassy towards Henry, Ray, Jasper, and Schwoz at times and is a stereotypical (albeit, unlikable) tomboy character, similar to Sam Puckett from iCarly.
- Jasper Dunlop is an unlikable idiot who is overly talkative, annoying, and pathetic at times and is also the punching bag, similar to Josh Nichols from Drake & Josh and Gibby Gibson from iCarly.
- Ray Manchester/Captain Man is the character who hits on married moms and he is too selfish, unlikable, and immature to be considered a legitimate superhero. Also, he barely protects Swellview in some episodes, such as "Man of the House". To make matters worse, he has become even dumber than before since Season 3. His comic relief is also a blatant, unfunny rip-off of Crazy Steve's from Drake & Josh and Spencer Shay's from iCarly. He can also be a little of a rip-off Captain Hero from Drawn Together but without his charm.
- Captain Man is a downright stupid and an extremely generic name for a superhero (To make matters worse, his original name was supposed to be "Galaxy Glen") and his powers are pretty useless. He has only one power, he's invincible. While there are many superheroes with this power, such as Deadpool. They work around it with combat skills and weaponry. However, not all superheroes with this power work, Captain Man is one of the prime examples of this.
- Henry's family is very disrespectful to him. Henry's dad, in fact, is just an idiot.
- Jake Hart Is an unlikable character as he's an idiot and a creator's pet
- Kirs Hart is way to strict to the point it's not even funny
- Piper is arguably the worst character on the show as she is an extremely unlikable brat who yells way too much and barely gets punished for her actions, not to mention she’s also a huge Mary-Sue as well, similar to Megan Parker from Drake & Josh.
- Gooch disappears in late season 1, and does not appear in the remainder of season 1, or the entirety seasons 2-5. He wasn't even mentioned, nor his contributions or existence acknowledged.
- Henry/Kid Danger and Ray/Captain Man often act like villains (or better yet, anti-heroes) when they're supposed to be superheroes. One examples is in "Trouble With Frittles" and in "Henry's Frittle Problem" where Captain Man and Kid Danger blow up Frittle's chip factory causing Jack Frittleman to get revenge on them in "Escape Room".
- Captain Man in one scene outright attempted to use a kid (Piper) as a human shield when Kid Danger's chip launcher was going out of control.
- No character development at all. In fact, it's more of character derailment, as they get worse and worse each episode rather than better (except for Piper). Although they did got character development by the last two seasons.
- Graphically unfunny, mean-spirited, groan-worthy, trashy, and forced humor that can get too grating, disturbing and/or inappropriate for children.
- There is a scene where Captain Man sits on Henry's head. Even if it made sense in the context, it is extremely inappropriate IN A KIDS SHOW, to have. grown man sitting on a child's head. It's genuinely uncomfortable to see.
- Cheap and poorly done special effects for the 2010s standards.
- Like most modern Nickcoms, it overuses the Laugh Track, including the scene where the teacher just says Henry's name.
- The soundtrack is generic and awful.
- Swellview is a very stupid name for a town and has ridiculous laws, even for a kids' comedy. For example, the Harts actively allow and even encourage their 12-year-old daughter to drive and somehow the state sends and allows Piper to keep her license.
- The newscasters are used as fillers starting in Season 3, which will get on your nerves real fast.
- Ridiculous villains, such as The Spoiler, Mitch Blisky, Jeff Blisky, and the Ballerino Brothers.
- Speaking of Mitch, he can arguably be the most mean-spirited villain who got Jasper framed and arrested when Jasper did absolutely nothing wrong with him.
- The writing is very poor and almost sounds like it was written by a 9-year-old.
- In "A Fiñata Full of Death Bugs", there is a Fiñata (fish piñata), filled with bees that eat people's brains! And in the end, they escape and do the damage to two victims. No, really. Death bugs, that eat brains, in a show for kids that is rated TV-G.
- In "Live & Dangerous Part 2", there is a very disgusting scene where Piper pops Jasper's enormous grotesque neck zit onto Frankie Grande's face. We kid you not. Even though it wasn’t a real pimple, but a fake one made with a giant strawberry or cherry soft gummy filled with vanilla pudding or melted whipped cream glued to Jasper’s neck.
- It usually crosses over with other bad Nickelodeon shows such as The Thundermans, Game Shakers, Knight Squad, and even Ryan's Mystery Playdate, which are all bad enough by themselves.
- These seasons has many bad morals, such as:
- Bullying
- Violence
- Lying
- Breaking the rules
- Framing/slandering people
- Playing the victim
- Committing crimes
- Cheating
- Not being yourself
- Starting drama
- Being a phone addict
- Acting like a jerk
- Not learning from your mistakes
- Misbehaving at school
- Defiance
- Doing whatever you want
- Being stubborn
- Not listening
- Not using common sense
- Having a bad attitude
- Many characters don't learn from their mistakes, don't right their wrongdoings, apologize, or get punishment. An example is in "Invisible Brad," where Jasper and Piper make a deal to split the money Piper makes from selling her playhouse if Jasper helps fix it up, but at the end, Piper tricks Jasper into believing she doesn't want to sell it, sells it and keeps all of the money.
Good Qualities
- Despite being ridiculous, some villains are decent and even cool like Drex, The Toddler, Rick Twitler, and Dr. Minyak.
- Schwoz Schwartz, Henry Hart, Jasper Dunlop and Charlotte Page are likable characters in their own ways.
- Even if Gooch is just an average forgotten character, he can be seen as tolerable.
- Even before Seasons 4 and 5 they were some good episodes:
- "Hour of Power" was great and Henry now has a superpower that could make his reflexes very fast.
- Unfortunately, he loses it in season 5 "A New Hero" and stays powerless for the rest of the series.
- There was also Henry and the Woodpeckers which was a decent episode.

- The remaining two seasons of the show were a big improvement.
- Plus, Season 3 is a slight improvement over the show in terms of the characters. But that's not saying much as it still has bad episodes like Mouth Candy and many flaws are still there Being Mediocore at Best.
- Piper slowly starts to mature as the series goes on.
- Around the beginning of season 3 characters development kicked in.

- The theme song is pretty good and catchy.
- There can be some good jokes, like a running gag where anytime Piper tries to watch the commercial she was in for the Fred Lobster restaurant (parody of Red Lobster) on TV, it's not how she either expected it or almost never gets a chance for anyone else to see the commercial because it's always being interrupted by something else.
- While most of the acting is lousy, a few of the actors give off a decent performance, especially in the last two seasons.
- The show does have some heartwarming moments, especially in the last two seasons.
- Its premise had a lot of potential, despite being poorly executed in these seasons.
- Unlike The Thundermans and Game Shakers, at least the show's hype is hardly misleading, considering the "Henry" in the show's title is to show that the series will focus on the life of Henry Hart and the "Danger" is to show as well that he will focus on him in his life as Kid Danger.

Reception
The first three seasons of Henry Danger was met with mixed-to-negative reviews from critics and audiences alike. However, seasons 4 and 5 were met with more positive reception, some fans consider this show a really good series. The show currently holds a 5.6/10 on IMDb.
