HobbyKids Adventures is an American web series based on the children's YouTube channel HobbyKidsTV, created by Butch Hartman. It premiered on June 22, 2019, and ended on March 14, 2020.

Plot

Three brothers use fun, food and amazing inventions to avoid the Slobby Kids and make the world a better place.

HobbyBad Qualities

  1. This show was basically Pocket. Watch's attempt to milk the HobbyKidsTV franchise along with the HobbyKids' next lame attempt to cash in with the Ryan's World franchise, both of which failed miserably due to the reasons below.
  2. To address the elephant in the room, the flash animation is straight-up abysmal, lazy, cheap and it suffers from constant frame-rate drops. It's so terrible to the point where it makes Butch Hartman's two previous shows look like Avengers: Endgame by comparison.
    • The characters' movements are very inconsistent, as it constantly changes from being fluid to stiff in multiple scenes. Even the flash animation from the last 13 episodes of The Fairly OddParents and Bunsen is a Beast was better than this.
    • There are also many animation errors.
    • HobbyPig almost looked like a pony than a pig.
  3. The art style and character designs are somewhat poorly drawn and lazy, to the point that it makes the art style and character designs from Bunsen Is a Beast look good in comparison. Both of them don't even resemble a Butch Hartman show at all, looking and feeling more like a show made by Bob Boyle or a Canadian show, Special mention goes to the HobbyKids themselves, who look more like rejects from Yin Yang Yo! or Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!.
  4. The HobbyKids themselves are often portrayed as bad characters who often get into trouble, but rarely get disciplined for their actions. They also do lots of bad things. For example:
    • In "Burger Bandits", they turn everything into burgers, including HobbyMom's computer, the TV, the car, and the toilet paper, and aside from being scolded by their parents, they pretty much don't get any real comeuppance.
    • In "Breaking Bedtime!", they set up extremely fatal traps that could kill someone in real life, just to avoid bedtime.
    • in "Maybe Baby Bear", HobbyPig and HobbyFrog acted so rude to HobbyBear by calling him "HobbyBaby" and they did not get punished.
  5. The episode "Burger Bandits" is entirely just product placement, as it is just a paid advertisement for Carl's Jr and Hardee's.
    • Thankfully though, there is a version of the episode which replaces "Carl's Jr" with the fictional "Cosmo Burger", but it's still a terrible episode.
  6. Some of the characters' names are laughably bad, such as Oh Fish Al.
  7. The theme song sounds rather terrible and laughable, and doesn't do much at all.
  8. False advertising: Some of the promotional material for the show features HobbyFrog using a jetpack and HobbyBear using a skateboard, even though they never use either of these in the show itself.
    • Some of the material also show the live-action HobbyKids in front of the animated HobbyKids, but the live-action HobbyKids only appear in the theme song of the show, and that's basically it.
  9. The SlobbyKids are completely lame antagonists who barely do anything substanial for the show as a whole. Not to mention, they are absolute punching bags, even when they don't deserve it. This make them look more like a hero than HobbyKids.
  10. The show was even made available on the Nick Jr. app, along with some episodes being uploaded on the Nick Jr. YouTube channel. The show's humor and lack of educational value make no sense for a preschool-oriented network. Even Nicktoons would be a better fit for the show.
  11. There are some illogical, even for a cartoons standard. How is it that HobbyMom (a rabbit) and HobbyDad (a dog) managed to get HobbyPig (obviously a pig), HobbyFrog (a frog) and HobbyBear (a bear)? Rabbit, Pig, Dog, Frog and Bear have different DNA! So, they can't have babies if it different animals since DNA is different.
  12. The theme song is generic and annoying because it repeat "Hobby" too much, and just consist of "Hobby" near the end of the intro.

HobbyTastic Qualities

  1. A few of the episodes' title cards, like that of "Breaking Bedtime!", are neat and well-drawn in contrast to the art style and character designs in the actual show.
  2. The voice acting is alright, and is done well by a rather amateur cast.
  3. While the art style is unappealing, the character designs can be tolerable to some.
  4. Guy Moon's soundtrack is also pretty good, despite being very repetitive.
  5. The theme song and credits theme, while generic and annoying, is catchy.

Reception

The show holds a 3.5/10 on IMDb, and recieved generally negative reviews from critics.
