"I Dream of Cosmo" is the third episode in the ninth season of The Fairly OddParents.

Plot

Cosmo loses his memory and grants Mr. Turner's wishes, so Timmy, Wanda, Poof, and Sparky must help Cosmo recover his memory, before Mr. Turner's wishes destroy the world.

Why This Dream Is A Nightmare

  1. The main problem with this episode is that Cosmo and Mr. Turner interact with each other for almost the entire episode, which is against Da Rules, as Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof would have to go away forever because fairies are not supposed to interact with anyone except for their godchildren. The same problem reoccurs in a later episode, "Desperate Without Housewives".
    • It also feels like a lazy rehash of "Genie Meanie Minie Mo" from Season 4, but in this episode's case, the writers use Cosmo and Mr. Turner instead. Adding fuel to the fire, the premise of Cosmo losing his memory makes no sense and feels more like an excuse for the writers to dumb him down for even more weak and unfunny attempts at humor.
      • The infamous "Fun-employment" line appears in a poof cloud after Mr. Turner wishes he wouldn't have to go to work again.
      • Also following the footsteps of "Keep Bikini Bottom Beautiful", Mr. Turner, being too lazy to take out the trash, wishes to make his house the city dump so he can leave his garbage where it is, except unlike "Keep Bikini Bottom Beautiful", the garbage is in an around the house, rather than being placed underneath it as a replica.
  2. After developing amnesia, Cosmo mistakenly thinks of himself as a magical "weenie" who is supposed to grant Mr. Turner's wishes, while Mr. Turner thinks that Cosmo is a witch and a genie combined. Mr. Turner also wishes for many idiotic and dangerous things, setting the motions of the episode's events.
    • To start the climax, he wishes for the sun to be closer to the Earth so he can bronze his newly-wished biceps, causing it to burn. What you expect?
  3. In addition to fairies not being allowed to interact with anyone except for their godchildren, as stated before, they also cannot poof up money. Yet, Cosmo gives Mr. Turner an endless supply of quarters for some reason.
  4. The plot point of fairies shrinking their wands, which causes them to only have the power to do magic tricks contradicts the earlier seasons where fairies were able to use their magic perfectly, shrunk or not. Of course, this serves nothing but to drive this specific episode just like in most cases with Season 9.
    • On that note, Wanda is rendered useless and unable to get Timmy, Poof, and herself back to normal sizes.
    • Additionally, this was the first episode in this season where Sparky was shown using his tail as a wand. This is also the first time Sparky used magic. Why didn't he just poof Timmy, Wanda, and Poof back to normal sizes or why didn't Timmy just ask him to do it?

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The ending of the episode is okay.
  2. Amazing animation and talented voice acting as usual.
