"Desperate Without Housewives" is the 30th episode in Season 9 of The Fairly OddParents.

Plot

Timmy, Cosmo, Mr. Turner, and Mr. Crocker are sick of constantly being nagged by women. Due to this, Timmy wishes that there were no women for 24 hours. This leads to him, his Dad, Cosmo, and Crocker having a guy hangout in the Turner residence.

Why It Desperately Needs Housewives

  1. This episode lazily reused the same plot: that of "Love Struck!" from Season 3, and that episode itself is no better. Both episodes involve Timmy selfishly making a rule-violating wish, except in this episode's case, he only wishes for women to disappear for a full day instead of permanently. Similarly, it doesn't suggest gender equality and enforces the offensive stereotypes of men being lazy, idiotic slobs, and women being annoying nags, which makes the episode sexist to both genders.
  2. Like with "I Dream of Cosmo", Cosmo spends most of this episode hanging out with Mr. Turner and, in this episode's case, Mr. Crocker being added to the mix. This completely goes against the show's rules, as Cosmo isn't supposed to appear in front of either Mr. Turner or Mr. Crocker.
  3. Mr. Crocker literally shows up out of nowhere in this episode, in the Turners' private residence. Additionally, he has no villainous role and doesn't try to hunt Cosmo even though he clearly sees him throughout the whole episode, thus, ruining the entire point of his character.
  4. Compared to "Love Struck!", this episode doesn't feel like it has an actual plot at all. Instead, it just heavily relies on contrived, repetitive, unfunny, and forgettable jokes that you typically come to expect from Cosmo, Mr. Turner, and Mr. Crocker.
  5. In the second half of the episode, we are introduced to absolutely pointless and bland new alligator-like alien characters (pictured below in the "Gallery" section). This part comes out of complete nowhere, and they were not needed since the show already has great alien characters... the Yugopotamians!
  6. Poof disappears after the beginning of the episode. Sparky is also completely absent, despite that not necessarily being a bad thing.
  7. The Turners' house is where the entire episode takes place, which is visually uninteresting.
  8. The whole episode can be seen as nothing but filler.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The ending where the housewives came back was okay.
  2. Top notch animation and voice acting as usual.
