"Jerk of All Trades" is the thirty-first episode in the ninth season of The Fairly OddParents.

Plot

After Jorgen is fired from his job as Fairy Ruler, Timmy helps him find a new job in Dimmsdale.

Why It's a Jerk

  1. First of all, Jorgen is a fairy and he is not supposed to be in any human's presence except for Timmy, because doing so will reveal his existence and he would have to go away forever, although this could be because Jorgen is the big leader of the fairies.
  2. This episode uses many elements from the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "SpongeBob, You're Fired", which aired about eight months prior and that episode itself is no better.
  3. Having a premise of Jorgen getting fired over his job as Fairy Ruler is a boneheaded and lazy idea. The reason for him getting fired is because of one thing: he didn't catch Timmy making his money-tree wish in time...that's it?
    • Timmy has also made many rule-violating wishes before. Yet, all of a sudden, he makes the money-tree wish and Jorgen gets fired for that?
  4. This episode could also be counted as filler due to its pointless running gag, as explained in the "Plot" section of the article, of Jorgen trying to get a job but failing every time due to his short-tempered attitude.
    • Other pointless running gags in this episode include raccoons taking money from the money tree and Mr. Turner getting electrocuted by a hot dog.
  5. As with most Season 9 episodes, Mr. Crocker is shoehorned in for pointless slapstick, such as when Jorgen carelessly drops a barbell on him at the gym.
  6. Cosmo and Wanda are supposed to be aware that Timmy's money-tree wish is against Da Rules, but they poof it up anyway, because... the heck with Da Rules, right?
  7. Timmy’s wish for the money making tree combined with Cosmo and Wanda granting it without question contradicts the episode “Nectar of the Odds” as in that episode, Timmy tries to wish for $1500 so he could see Crash Nebula on Ice only for Cosmo and Wanda to remind him that such a wish is against Da Rules because wishing for money is not different from counterfeiting.
    • On that note, Cosmo and Wanda are also supposed to be the ones in trouble (or at least better yet, let off with a warning), not Jorgen.
  8. Juandissimo takes Jorgen's job of monitoring rule-breaking wishes during this episode for reasons unknown. However, in the episode "Cosmo Rules" from Season 7, it's said that only members of the Von Strangle family can enforce "Da Rules". Plus, that same episode says that rule-free wishes are controlled by Da Rules book, which means that rule-free wishes cannot be done unless Da Rules are changed to allow them.
  9. Predictable ending, where Jorgen gets his job back.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. Good voice acting and animation as usual.
