Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil, also known as Kick Buttowski, is an American animated series created by Sandro Corsaro for Disney XD.
Summary
Most boys are worried about school and friendsーbut Kick Buttowski has more important things to think about. His goal is to become the greatest daredevil the world has ever known. With the help of his loyal sidekick, Gunther, and some unusual methods, Kick will try almost anything, from racing the school bus on a skateboard to flying down Dead Man's Drop on an ironing board.
Why This Season Never Quits
- Kick himself is a cool, likable, and an very memorable protagonist; he respects anyone around him and will even go out of his way to make others happy. Not to mention...that cool Wolverine-style voice he has.
- Several other characters are very memorable as well such as much of Kick's family, including his mother Honey, his father Harold, his older brother Brad, and younger sister Brianna, his ditzy, yet, kind best friend Gunther, and his family, Mr. Vickle, Billy Stumps, Wade, Kendall Perkins, Ms. Fitzpatrick, Wacky Jackie, Ronaldo, Cousin Kyle, etc.
- Decent, detailed and smooth flash animation by Mercury Filmworks. Some scenes, like the intro, even blend it with CG elements, which looks really cool.
- Upbeat and action-packed tone, which is really appropriate for this type of show.
- Several funny moments that vary in kind; they usually range from slapstick, to satire on the stunting world, to even cleverly hidden adult jokes like the dam scene in, "Fistful of Ice Cream".
- Lots of memorable and iconic action scenes filled with numerous adventures.
- Awesome and memorable episodes such as:
- "Dead Man's Drop" (which started the show with a positive impression.)
- "If Books Could Kill"
- "Battle For The Snax"
- "Not Without My Cereal"
- "Flush and Release"
- "Snowpocalypse!"
- "Runaway Recital"
- "Trike X-5"
- "For The Love of Gunther"
- "Mellowbrook Drift"
- "Rank of Awesome"
- "Morning Rush!"
- "And...Action!"
- Great voice acting by the talented Charlie Schlatter, Matt Jones, Danny Cooksey, Kari Wahlgren, Brian Stepanek, Grey DeLisle Griffin (Daphne Blake from 2002-onwards Scooby Doo and Mandy from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy), John DiMaggio (Bender from Futurama, Marcus Fenix from Gears of War series and Jake the Dog from Adventure Time), Mindy Sterling and Eric Christian Olsen.
- Nice soundtrack that's largely rock based. The intro theme for instance is very well produced and a fitting match for the show.
- Occasionally sweet and emotional moments, like Kick and Brianna's dance in, "Sister Pact".
- Quotable and memorable catchphrases such as Kick's, "aw, biscuits", and Brad's, "YEA, BRAD!!"
- Kendall is considered the most loved by fans, and for her relationship with Kick.
- The running gag of characters screaming, "A-E-I-O-U, and sometimes, Y!!!" while flying through the air, is an example of perfect execution of a running gag. It's not overused, to the point where it can be considered any character's catchphrase, also because it's not limited to any one character, but it's not infrequent enough to be considered recycling of old material.
"Aw, Biscuits", Qualities
- The show went severely downhill by season 2 as the characters were hit with noticeable mediocre character changes, mostly notable Kick and Gunther becoming huge punching bags and the removal of any sort of action and stunts and focusing more on the Buttowski family and the humor being downgraded.
- What doesn't help is that the show ended way too fast, lasting only 2 seasons and 52 episodes and showed no signs of a possible revival.
- Even before the second season, there are some bad episodes, such as "According to Chimp" and "Braking The Grade".
- Some unlikable characters, like Ms. Chicarelli and Penelope Patterson.
- Instead of learning his lesson through failure, Kick always gets away with his mistake and wins in the end while learning his lesson indirectly, which can get cause the episodes to be predictable after a while.
- Although it does happen sometimes, cheaters rarely get punished for cheating in the series, even if it's blatantly obvious.
- Numerous Gunther scenes have fart jokes.
Trivia
- Many of the characters and situations were based on the creator's childhood growing up in Stoneham, Massachusetts.

- Knievel's son Robbie was the stunt coordinator for this show.
- This show was the first animated original series on Disney XD.
- Grey Griffin and Brian Stepanek later starred together on The Loud House.
- Speaking of which, Chris Savino, the creator of The Loud House, was also the director of this show.
- The show is set to return on Disney+, although the date is unknown.
