Meat Fuzzy Lumpkins is the first pilot episode of the Original Powerpuff Girls, and also the first episode of the "What a Cartoon!" shorts series.

Plot

The Powerpuff Girls fight to stop Fuzzy Lumpkins' plot to turn everything into meat when he loses to the meat jar competition.

Why It Rocks

  1. First of all, it was the pilot episode that started off something that would later become Craig McCracken's first & great Cartoon Network creation. It also introduced the main reasons why the show would become good, such as three crime-fighting little girls called Blossom, Bubbles & Buttercup, a narrator narrating the start of each episode, a villain stopping them and the kindergarten the girls go to, Pokey Oaks along with their teacher, Ms Keane and most of all, the narrator thanking the girls with a heart-shaped background.
  2. Fuzzy Lumpkins' plan is very creative and delicious here, as he creates a meat gun that turns everything into meat.
  3. Blossom rushing to leave Ms. Keane playing jumprope with her friend to answer the telephone is quite impressive along with the three girls eating all the meat to make Townsville look normal again and Bubbles drawing a beautiful and detailed picture on the building wall.
  4. The three girls are great characters for finding clues on who turned Townsville into meat and attacking/stopping Fuzzy Lumpkins.
  5. Some emotional moments, such as Bubbles getting knocked down and lying on the ground and the narrator saying about how much effort Bubbles put in her hair only for meat to get on it.
  6. The fight Bubbles does to Fuzzy Lumpkins is great to watch and the white shadows make it more impressive.
  7. Good Ending: When Bubbles turns Fuzzy into meat, Blossom grills a burger patty and the person that called the girls (despite still being meat) congratulated them, but the guy asks why the burger has white ears on it and it ends with the narrator saying that the day was saved thanks to the Powerpuff Girls.

Bad Qualities

  1. The Bologna Brothers and All-Beef Patty never made an appearance in the full TV series.
  2. There's one animation error where Bubbles disappears in one frame when she was beating up Fuzzy Lumpkins.

Reception

It holds a rating of 7.4 out of 10 on IMDB.

Trivia

When the full series came out, the Mayor would look much different than here, with him being smaller than here and also wearing a top hat, a moustache and a purple suit and yellow trousers rather than a navy suit.
