Mega Man 11 is an action-platform game developed and published by Capcom. Announced as a celebration for Mega Man's 30th anniversary, it was released on October 2nd, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows.

Why It Rocks

  1. Outstanding 2.5D graphic style compared to the 8-bit or 16-bit art styles from the previous entries, on par with Bad Piggies.
  2. Excellent soundtrack which really fits the Mega Man setting.
  3. It brought back voice acting, and it's done way better than Mega Man 8.
    • In fact, you can even change the language of the voice acting without having to change the display language itself.
  4. It is significantly more story-driven than previous Mega Man games, going into the backstory behind why Dr. Light and Dr. Wily became enemies.
  5. The main new feature Double Gear System allows you to either move really fast or greatly increase your attack power; at the same time this mechanic can't be overused due to a very strict timer so the player can't abuse it.
  6. Unlike Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10, sliding and charging mechanics have returned.
  7. Though not entirely gone, instant-kill death traps and cheap jumps are significantly less common than in previous games so the game relies less on fake difficulty.
  8. Another quality of life addition to the game is that shielded enemies can now be briefly stunned with a charged buster shot to be vulnerable to a followup attack meaning you don't have to wait for their guard to open which greatly increases the pace of the game.
  9. Bosses offer a strong challenge but can feasibly be defeated without relying on trial-and-error. These bosses also use the Double Gear to spice up their fights.
  10. For newcomers, lower difficulties place checkpoints more frequently and start the player with more lives which makes the game a lot less punishing for inexperienced players. In regular difficulties for more experienced players however, the game is still as challenging as the other Mega Man games.
  11. The ending takes a rather fun jab at the fact that Dr. Wily always begs to be spared every time he is defeated.
  12. The weapons Mega Man uses are creatively versatile and can be combined with the Double Gear to make them even more powerful.
    • Whenever you defeat a Robot Master and get a new weapon, you're sent to a practice room to try out the new weapon.
  13. Like Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10, you can choose your difficulty level.
  14. If you're playing in Newcomer or Casual Mode, your weapons get refilled after death, much like Mega Man 8.

Bad Qualities

  1. There are still some cheap deaths occasionally, i.e. there are some places that trick you into falling to your doom.
  2. Underwhelming Wily Fortress. It only has two proper stages, a boss rush without a Wily boss, and a very short fourth stage that leads to the Wily Machine 11.
  3. The game is exclusively digital in Europe, while other regions get a physical version of the game, despite not being a port of an older game from a previous generation of consoles.
  4. Mega Man's death scream in the English version does get annoying for some players.
  5. Unlike Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10, it doesn't feature Proto Man and Bass as playable characters in this game.
