Mortal Kombat: Armageddon is the seventh main video game in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. The PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions were released in October 2006, with a Wii version released on May 29, 2007, in North America.
Why It Deserves the Godlike Energy of Blaze
- The graphics look great for 2006 standards, although it's mostly from Deception and Deadly Alliance.
- Over 60 (70 if you include the 10 custom characters; 1 on each profile) characters to choose from, including returning characters.
- Some new modes were added such as.
- Konquest: You play as Taven who starts his adventure fighting off enemies along your journey, Taven and Daegon are competing with each other in their quest.
- Motor Kombat: A racing game similar to Mario Kart, but in a more gorier fashion.
- Kreate A Fighter: This was the first Mortal Kombat game in the series to have character customization and you can create your own fighter of your choosing.
- Amazing soundtrack.
- The Wii Version is an upgrade and the most superior version to the PS2 and Xbox Versions, due to the Wii having better hardware and slighty better graphics. Also, it features the Female Chameleon (Khameleon).
- The Krypt has lots of interesting content, such as alternative outfits, concept art, and glitch videos from the Alpha Build of the game.
- The voice acting in Konquest mode is an improvement over Deception's Konquest mode.
- Some great redesigns for the Characters.
- Blaze is given some backstory where He is an elemental created by Delia, and He is a pretty neat antagonist.
- The cinematic intro, like a lot of PS2 era Mortal Kombat games, is very amazing.
- The Premium Pack included the arcade-perfect port of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, a DVD video featuring a "History of Fatalities" movie along with new videos for more than 50 of the Mortal Kombat characters, and animation cell cover art autographed by franchise co–creator, Ed Boon.
Bad Qualities
- The Fatalities were replaced with a Kreate-A-Fatality system, which disappointed lots of fans of the series.
- The game is basically just a reskin of Deception, but with more features and a changed-up story.
- Taven is rather a bland protagonist, including his story about how he and Daegon compete with each other in their quest.
- Unlike Deadly Alliance and Deception, each and every character has only 1 fighting stance and 1 weapon stance, which makes the characters limited and very similar to each other.
- The Wii version, despite being the best port of the game, lacked online play.
- Motaro’s redesign can be very disappointing since he only has 2 legs as opposed to 4, making him look like a minotaur due to problems with rendering him at the time.
