Myth Makers: Super Kart GP is a racing game made by Data Design Interactive. It was released on January 1, 2006 for the PC and was November 16, 2007 on Wii and in North America on December 18 of the same year, but published by Conspiracy Entertainment. There was also an Xbox version planned, but was cancelled.

The PS2 version was released in 2007 and published by Phoenix Games.

Why It Sucks

  1. The game is just an obvious reskin/copy-and-paste job of Action Girlz Racing, sharing the exact same gameplay, menu design, pick-ups, credits, car engine noises, loading screens, and even crosshairs. The karts are also very floatly just like Action Girlz Racing.
  2. It inevitably rips off the Mario Kart series, such as the pick-up boxes looking incredibly similar to the ones from the Mario Kart games.
  3. Despite pick-ups being a prominent part of the gameplay, there is no mention of them at all in the manual, not even the characters.
  4. Very little content, especially for that of a Wii/PS2/PC game, as there are only 5 tracks you can race on, and other tracks on this game are just variations of the same track, being either reversed or at night.
  5. Much like Race with Ryan, the title and logo are incredibly generic and sound just like any other mediocre kart-racing game.
  6. The controls are very poor and unresponsive, especially in the Wii version. At 100c it is very difficult to handle the karts properly.
  7. Annoying voice acting. Whilst racing, the characters say the same four or five lines over and over again if they use a pickup. It's also terribly done, as most of the time you can barely hear the characters due to the loud engine noise the karts make.
  8. The Silver Stars are a very poorly implemented mechanic, as you must beat Mumbra (the villain) in a Time Trial race in order to use it, and even when you do have this ability, the silver stars are placed in incredibly awkward locations (sometimes even near the edge of a cliff), and the special powers of the characters are very ineffective and only work for a very short amount of time.
  9. The opening music is just lazily recycled from Billy the Wizard: Rocket Broomstick Racing.
  10. Wonky camera.
  11. Poorly and lazily programmed AI, as they all begin the race in a straight line.
  12. Bad collision detection and poor programming as a whole. The karts can easily flip over if you drive over a hill or do a land jump.
  13. As stated in WIS #5, the engine sound the karts make is very loud and overall annoying to listen to, and if you pause the game, this is the only thing that you'll hear.
  14. The loading screen for when you select Trixie is very uncomfortable to look at, as she is a young child doing a sexual pose whilist dressed as a bunny.
  15. While racing, the characters have their mouths open the entire time, which can get quite uncomfortable to look at after a certain amount of time.
  16. Like most of Data Design Interactive's games, there is such little content in this game that it was actually printed on a CD instead of a DVD in 2007, as the game's file size is only 100 MB, which is only 14% of the disk's capacity.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The characters and tracks (despite the latter all being the same) are passable.
  2. Much like Ninjabread Man, the cover isn't bad.

Reception

The game currently has a user score of 3.1 indicating "generally unfavorable reviews" on Metacritic.[1] On GameFAQs, the Wii[2] version currently has a score of 1.84/5, while the PS2[3] version has a rating of 1.52/5 via 22 ratings.

Trivia

  • According to unused assets in the game's files, this game was originally pitched as a Nickelodeon game. Unfortunately, Nickelodeon obviously turned this down due to the awful reception of Nickelodeon Party Blast.
