Nicktoons Winner's Cup Racing is a racing game developed by American studio Pronto Games, Inc. and published by ValuSoft, with THQ. It was released on February 15, 2006, in the United States, exclusively for the Microsoft Windows operating system. It is the second racing game released in the Nicktoons series, succeeding Nicktoons Racing and preceding Nicktoons Nitro, and features characters from SpongeBob SquarePants, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, Danny Phantom, and The Fairly OddParents.

Why It Loses The "Winner's" Cup (If We Can Even Call It That)

  1. The controls are absolutely abysmal, and it feels like an RPG game more than a racing game.
    • Not only that but they are horribly unresponsive and clunky to the point of making the game unplayable and not having any fun.
  2. The maps are poorly designed and scaled small, making it look like the racers have grown or their worlds shrunk. And that makes it hard to navigate around players.
  3. The train in the Retroville map can fling and completely flip the player's vehicle over.
  4. Very annoying voice acting. The announcer saying "checkpoint" for the 100th time will most likely get on your last nerve.
    • Despite the heroes having their voice actors reprise their roles, the villains have no voice acting at all.
  5. It can get real easy to lose track of where you are, even with the green arrows showing you where to go.
  6. Some routes make you have to do a near 180 turn, which can catch the player off guard and possibly struggle to find the route.
  7. It requires you to drive over hills in some sections, and doing so damages your vehicle.
  8. Boring soundtrack.
  9. Poor graphics that look like it's came from a late N64 game, even Nicktoons Unite! had better graphics than this and are actually decent compared to this, and that game came out in 2005.
  10. The game is very short and can be completed in roughly 40-50 minutes. It only takes about 5 minutes to win a winner's cup.
  11. The game is really glitchy, especially with the textures graphics that can glitch a lot.
  12. This game clearly looked rushed out to release alongside Nicktoons Unite!, which wasn't well received by critics either, however that game was still better than this and is actually considered decent by the gamers.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. There is a free driving mode, which can help the player understand the maps better.
  2. At least the voice actors and voice actresses reprise their roles as the heroes from their respective shows, unlike the villains.
  3. It's still better than Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing but not by much, and isn't saying a lot.

Reception

The game currently holds a 6.6 rating on GameSpot and a 5.1 on Game Pressure. However, it was mostly criticized by gamers.
