Outbreak At Stake is the ninth episode of Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two. It released on December 18, 2023.

Premise

Barf Bag needs to be refilled with barf, but since Rocky is eliminated, and because of Black Hole's refusal to allow her to be killed and recovered, the only source is the volcano. Unfortunately, the volcano vomit causes her to turn into a zombie, and starts a zombie apocalypse! Now it's up to the teams to survive the apocalypse and find a cure.

Why It Survived The Outbreak

  1. The challenge being to survive the zombie apocalypse and find a cure is definitely one of the most interesting in the series! For a show that is usually fun and dramatic, a horror-themed episode is definitely an interesting concept, and it works very well!
  2. Puffball, Coiny, and Teardrop (3 veteran players from BFDI and BFDIA) being eliminated gives the BFB debuters a break.
  3. The failed TPOT debuters have some plot relevance for once by being involved in the apocalypse.
  4. When Eraser and Teardrop slap each other rapidly, they use the BFDI art style just like Firey and Coiny.
  5. Pillow is an absolute menace and brings amazing suspense to the show. When Just Not! misheard the challenge from Two due to a poor connection (they heard it as kill all the teammates), Pillow takes this to a great advantage knowing how much she likes to kill people and put them in bad situations.
  6. The silly little interactions between Four, X, and Clock when they went out to go fishing.
  7. Yellow Face is surprisingly likeable in this episode as he helps the team to safety.
  8. Bomby's act of heroism when Pillow tries to kill him after murdering the rest of the team. He blows himself up alongside Pillow, and while they lost the challenge, Bomby ended up receiving the most votes.
  9. Teardrop was at her most likeable for sacrificing her time in the game to help cure the zombie apocalypse. For a team of only one member, this would have been a hard challenge for her to win anyway.
  10. The way Snowball merges with the snow to become bigger is an amazing character quirk that has never been shown from the character at all in the past.
  11. Perhaps the most unexpected moment Eraser has ever given. When Teardrop lost the challenge, he didn't shame or laugh at her one bit as he normally would. He complimented her on her skills throughout her time on the show! For someone who's typically portrayed as grumpy, unamused, and willing to sabotage, this moment made Eraser a fan favorite and one of the top choices to win The Power of Two.
  12. We get another update on the EXIT-ors!! They are splitting into groups of three to search throughout Four to find a way out. Pencil learns from one of the classrooms that there's more numbers. Cut to the present, and One emerges from the moon.

Bad Qualities

  1. The voting was at it's absolute most rigged state possible. All 6 members of Are You OK? had battled with each other with roughly the same amount of votes. Eraser and Puffball, the ones with the most and least votes, had a difference of just 84 votes. Puffball lost to Golf Ball by 3 (however there's been worse, like the one time in BFB when Flower beat Taco from elimination by 1 single vote). Team8s were not safe either, as Pin, Coiny, Barf Bag, and Needle had battled with each other that ended up causing Coiny to lose by 20 votes.
    • Thankfully, this is the last episode to use the comments, as TPOT 10's voting is done via Google Forms.
  2. Black Hole is unlikeable due to not allowing Barf Bag to be killed and recovered, but he made up for it by helping protect Tree.
  3. Had the unzombified Anchor been let into the hotel, we could've seen a bit more character development from them.

Reception

It has a rating of 9.2 on IMDb based on 36 ratings, ranked as the #1 best TPOT episode and #2 overall behind "Return of the Rocket Ship".
