Phineas and Ferb is an American animated series created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh for Disney Channel and Disney XD, and was produced by Disney Television Animation. It ran from 2007 until 2015.
Plot
Phineas Flynn and his stepbrother, Ferb Fletcher, are determined to make every day of their summer vacation fun. They try building a full-scale roller coaster, becoming musicians, building a backyard beach, and traveling back in time to meet dinosaurs. Their family pet, Perry the Platypus, doubles as a secret agent and battles evil. Meanwhile, older sister Candace is tattling on them to Mom and Dad, though she can never seem to catch them in the act.
Why This Show Is Gonna Do It All
- A big variety of episode plots like when kids get to have fun before school restarts in the fall.
- The theme song is catchy and details many of their summer adventures in just a minute-long duration.
- It helps promote creativity.
- Great voice acting, especially by Dan Povenmire himself and Dee Bradley Baker (Klaus from American Dad!).
- It's filled with such great and memorable episodes, which is the result of a formulaic plot that doesn't rely on mean-spirited humor and is done right, unlike another Disney XD show. The best and most iconic episodes of the show include:
- Rollercoaster (which not only started the series on a high note but ended up being the highest-rated episode of the entire show)
- Lawn Gnome Beach Party of Terror
- Flop Starz
- The Fast and the Phineas
- Raging Bully
- I, Brobot
- S'Winter

- Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel (A great Marvel crossover)
- Phineas and Ferb Save Summer

- Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars (An amazing Star Wars parody)
- Night of the Living Pharmacists
- Tales from the Resistance: Back to the 2nd Dimension
- Act Your Age
- Last Day of Summer (an awesome way to end the whole series, along with Act Your Age and the standalone special, The O.W.C.A Files)
- Enjoyable characters with distinct personalities. such as:
- Phineas Flynn Fletcher being the invention mastermind.
- Ferb Flynn Fletcher is the quiet, mysterious one (although he had more dialogues in the older seasons).
- Candace Flynn Fletcher always wants to bust her brothers
- Stacy Hirano is the most popular supporting character in this series, officially referred to herself as "the hottest Japanese teenage girl".
- Isabella Garcia-Shapiro is the very sweet, lovable, and adorable one who helps Phineas and Ferb out with their inventions a lot, and most people would find her quote "Whatcha doin'?" hilarious.
- Perry the Platypus is an awesome character, and his "Agent P" theme song is incredibly catchy, his platypus sounds are also great, it helps that he's voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, the same voice actor as Klaus from American Dad!.
- Every episode has 2 plots (one involving Phineas and Ferb, and the other involving Perry the Platypus and Dr. Doofenshmirtz).
- Although most episodes adhere to a consistent formula, there are a few that deviate from this pattern, particularly in the later seasons.
- Amazing and well-choreographed action scenes.
- The show is hilarious, and the writers don't hold anything back with the comedic potential presented, such as:
- The random rap number at the end of "Picture This".
- Baljeet's awesome singing and character development in "The Baljeatles".
- Phineas and Ferb trying to think of how a caveman could work in a modern world, getting stumped at just politics.
- Doofenshmirtz trying to come up with a use for zinc, only coming up with "big laundry".
- The entirety of "The Baljeatles".
- "Why do my nostrils whisper to me?"
- Ferb going to strike Bobbi, only for Phineas to say "Not yet, Ferb."
- Doofenshmirtz tries to escape, and then suddenly turns into a cloud outline while he stays there and asks "What just happened?"
- A lot of funny gags are inspired by cartoons from the Golden Age of Animation such as Tex Avery and Chuck Jones.
- Awesome musical numbers.
- Nice and smooth animation from Rough Draft Studios and Wang Film Productions, which vastly improved throughout Seasons 2-4.
- Funny and creative running gags.
- Doofenshmirtz saying: "Curse you, Perry the Platypus!" almost every time he’s been defeated by Perry. (and even sometimes someone teamed up with him)
- Candace trying to get her brothers busted and always failing.
- Someone saying "Hey, where's Perry?", then cutting to Perry going to his secret spy organization. Then, when Perry comes back, Phineas says "Oh, there you are, Perry."
- Doofenshmirtz’s "-inators" always fail because of Agent P.
- Phineas and Ferb’s activities disappear because of Doofenshmirtz and Agent P’s side of the story.
- Doofenshmirtz has a backstory for each of his "-inators".
- It is one of the few shows to actually have a good Persian dub.
- It spawned a TV movie called Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension, which is very enjoyable to watch.
- It did two crossovers with Marvel and Star Wars, two companies that are owned by Disney, and they don't even feel like blatant commercials for those brands, how amazing is that?!
- In addition to Across the 2nd Dimension, the show also got another movie called "Candace Against the Universe" for Disney+, which was also good.
- This spawned a decent spin-off called "Take Two with Phineas and Ferb".
- Doofenshmirtz is a great and hilarious antagonist even when he's an F in evil. But where he fails as a villain, he surprisingly succeeds as a father.
- Many memorable quotes such as "Doofenshmirtz Evil, Inc.!" and "You're busted!"
- They made a new song for each episode and most of them are good, which shows their dedication.
- As noted above WTSIGDIA#5, the series finale, Last Day of Summer was a great way to end the series.
Qualities That Are Busted
- The animation in Season 1 is generally commendable, yet it frequently deviates from the model and sometimes appears uncanny.
- "Nerds of a Feather" can be a bit inappropriate for some younger viewers, due to a gang war between the two films, their disagreements are stupid. If it was Rated R, it would've been bloody.
- Many episodes follow a similar pattern, which can render them repetitive and predictable.
- With that said, this show rarely has any bad episodes, with a few exceptions. "Phineas and Ferb Get Busted!", "Fly On The Wall", "Interview with a Platypus", "Nerds of a Feather", "Quantum Boogaloo", and "Candace Gets Busted" (which was a sour way to end season 2).
- Mr. and Mrs. Doofenshmirtz and Suzy Johnson are unlikeable characters. (Though with the first one being the villain, it could’ve been intentional. Similar thing with Suzy, however in Suddenly Suzy, she's unexpectedly nice to Candace whenever Jeremy isn't around.)
- Candace herself can also be pretty annoying at times.
- The first and second Persian dubs were not well received, as they were illegal dubs of the show.
Episodes With Their Own Pages
- "Dude, We're Getting the Band Back Together"
- "Isabella and the Temple of Sap"
- "Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel"
Trivia
- The first episode, Rollercoaster, aired right after the Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical 2, which gained 17.2 million viewers that night.
- This is the longest-running regular Disney cartoon, having run for eight years, a record formerly held by Kim Possible. However, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, a Disney Junior show, ran for 10 years but has fewer episodes than this series.
- Caroline Rhea, the actress of Linda, was also Judy on Sydney To The Max.
- Before Dan Povenmire went on to create this series, he was first behind the two infamous Looney Tunes shorts such as "Museum Scream" from 2003 and "My Generation G G Gap" from 2004.
- Mitchel Musso and Ashley Tisdale departed fellow Disney series Hannah Montana and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.
- It had two crossovers, one with Marvel and one with Star Wars. The crossover with Marvel, titled "Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel" aired on August 16, 2013, and the crossover with Star Wars, titled "Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars" aired on August 4, 2014.
- During 2010 and 2013 a follower of the series, named Paola, known on YouTube as Angelus19, along with Sam-Ely-Ember and Melty94, created a page called ElizaFlynnFletcher where they created a total of 6 comics about the Phineas and Ferb series, according to According to sources of their followers, these users created these comics mistakenly thinking that the series ended with the episode "Roller Coaster: The Musical" and in turn created two characters Marie Flynn Shapiro "daughter of Phineas and Isabela" along with Thomas Fletcher "Son of Ferb and Vanessa" who confirmed that they were a romantic couple.
- During those years these comics were very popular within the Latino fandom, however, these comics caused a toxic Latino fandom of the series, who sought to vandalize the third season and the fourth season as the movie Phineas and Ferb: In the Second Dimension, seeing that the characters of Marie and Thomas were not there.
- The first is called "La Pajimada" where Phineas and Ferb as teenagers have a pajama party, where Isabela with Phineas confides in her feelings, while Doof adopts a puppy.
- The second called "Wedding The Impossible" where Phineas along with Ferb prepares for Candace's wedding with Jeremy, facing Susy who wants to ruin the wedding, while Phineas and Isabela seek to formalize their relationship.
- The third is called "Chaos in Time" where Marié travels in time, causing a paradox that causes a change in the Future where Heinz is a cruel dictator, and now with the help of Thomas, he must avoid that paradox to save the future, while Phineas's relationship with Isabella is broken by the presence of a student named Antonello.
- The room called "Listen to your heart" where Phineas is reunited with a friend from the past and due to a misunderstanding, she kisses him, causing Isabela to compete against her for Phineas's love.
- The fifth is called the "Plan" where Isabela along with her cousin Nicolás seeks to make Phineas jealous
- The sixth is called "Love Triangle", where Marie gets jealous when a new girl flirts with Thomas.
- Due to the strong popularity of Paola's comic book fans, who came to consider her the true creator of Phineas and Ferb, these fans came to harass or threaten Phineas and Ferb's own Mexican voice actors, and various fans of the series that criticized Paola's comics, in addition to the fact that Paola also censored or blocked several users who criticized her work, this led to the comics Chaos in Time, Listen to your heart and Love Triangle, being unfinished or blocked by Paola herself, this also led to the ElizaFlynnFletcher's page was deleted, leaving private several videos that Paola with Sam-Ely-Ember and Melty94, in addition to canceling different comics that they had in mind to do, this caused the fandom to start attacking several of the Season 4 episodes , reaching the point of almost making a total ban on the penultimate episode of the series "Adolescent" (Because the characters of Thomas and Marié did not appear), in turn Paola (Who had previously been an almost extreme fan of Phineas and Ferb in dan fairly positive ratings for the episodes) criticized very negatively during the episode.
- During 2016 with the premiere of Milo Murphy's Law, Paola confirmed on her networks that she was satisfied with her creation of Marie and Thomas, also clarifying that the next Spin-Off of Phineas and Ferb did not attract her attention at all, finally in the year 2022 before the official Hamster and Gretel trailer, in a question and answer podcast with Dan Povenmire, he was asked about the characters of Marié and Thomas, to which he replied that he would never include those characters in one of his series, since he did not create them.
- Currently a couple of Marié and Thomas who were very popular from 2011 to 2013, have been very forgotten within the Fandom of the series, in turn, many of the fans who liked this couple retracted, cataloging it as overvalued and Useless.
