Press Your Luck: 2010 Edition is the video game developed by Ludia and released by Ubisoft on October 27, 2009, and on PlayStation 3 through PlayStation Network on August 24, 2010.
Why It's Not Your Luck
- Like The Price Is Right 2010 Edition and most Ludia-developed PC games of that period, it runs only in the resolution of 800 by 600 pixels and has no widescreen support, which is totally unacceptable for 2009 standards. And the screen resolution can't be even changed in Options, leaving the only option to play the game in widescreen by emulating the game on Dolphin Emulator or RPCS3.
- Bad graphics that look like an early PlayStation 2/GameCube game.
- The game is too formulaic to be enjoyable for long. Answering trivia questions is fun, but the game has the obnoxious knack of giving wild wrong answers for questions, begging you to pick the right answer from a group of obvious duds.
- The game gets annoying very quick, having to play the same shows over and over again to advance, especially if you lose a close game by getting a Whammy at the wrong time.
- If you lose the show against the computers, you'll need to replay the whole show all over again. And the next show can't be unlocked until the player wins the previous one.
- The eggcrate screen digits that shows the number of spins look like it's not the original.
- When you exit the game from the main screen in the PC version, it just exits to the Windows desktop without confirmation.
- The Wii version is overpriced: it costed $40 on release.
Redeeming Qualities
- There are 20 shows to play against the computer and 2,500 questions.
- The shows follow the format of the original show.
- There are 50 Whammy animations; most of them provide a good laugh, despite the fact that this funny little creature takes all money away from the player.
- The online multiplayer is now available. This is a step in the right direction after Ludia failed to include any online features in The Price is Right 2010 Edition.
- The theme song is still catchy, despite it was taken from the pilot episode.
