Sad Satan is a shock horror game released in 2015 for Microsoft Windows. It was first reported on June 25, 2015, by the YouTube channel Obscure Horror Corner, and the channel's owner, Jamie Farrel, claimed that he had downloaded the game on the Dark Web.
Currently, the origins of the game remain unknown. Some speculate that a Dark Web user by the name of "PlanscautZK" (or simply ZK) developed the game, others speculate that Obscure Horror Corner and ZK are the same, but there has been no concrete answer.
Why It Made Satan Sad
IMPORTANT NOTE: This game is extremely controversial for reasoning explained below. No positive pointers/section will be permitted on this page.
- It doesn't even qualify as a video game, it's just a walking simulator with shock elements added. While Demonophobia was done in 2D (meaning that the creator didn't use actual footage of human suffering), Sad Satan has real footage of grotesque imagery mentioned below.
- The "game" is just walking through monochrome corridors, hearing distorted audios from real-world serial killers, and seeing some real pop-up photos of child abuse, gore, murder, rape, and other horrific acts.
- Awful graphics that looks like the PS1/N64/Dreamcast games.
- The ending of the game is anti-climactic. There are some idle children in the corridors, and eventually, one of them will attack and kill the protagonist, effectively finishing the game for good.
- To make matters worse, someone claiming to be its developer released a version of the game (called the "clone version") on 4chan, saying it was a "full uncensored version" of the original one shared by Obscure Horror Corner, but this version is riddled with malware and viruses. Numerous users had their computers becoming unresponsive or not booting up correctly after trying to execute the "full version" of the game.
- The entire game is very disturbing as it contains extremely graphic footage of gory and grotesque images of murdered children, horrific sounds, and even child pornography. We wish we were kidding!
- Worth noting is that the gore and child abuse images are found in the said clone version.
- Thanks to the clone version, it's illegal to possess this game in certain regions, which means you can get arrested just for playing it in these regions, even if it's just the clean version.
- The gameplay is confusing. By being a maze, you don't know the right way to "progress", which is more confusing than other games like Resident Evil Outbreak (which have scenarios that you'll take so much time to solve), except even worse.
- In the main menu, if you click on "How to Play", one of the gory images will appear (again, found in the clone version).
Trivia
- Many have theorized that the main theme of the game is child abuse. Due to the ambiguity of the game, whether child abuse is the theme or something else entirely is unknown.
- Before the name of the developer of the original game is revealed, many have assumed that Gary Graves, a man from Lubbock, Texas, is the developer of the "clone" game. This is due to his YouTube channel, Scarebere, being traced back to his Reddit account (ScarebereZK) which was created four days before the 'clone' link was posted to 4chan, and being arrested on counts of possession of child pornography.[1]
- On May 16, 2022, PlanscautZK published a new game called Stranger Than Real Sad Satan on itch.io, but whether this is the same game as Sad Satan (due to similarities) or just an entirely new game done in the Terror Engine is up for debate.
