SpongeBob's Truth or Square is a 2009 video game based on the SpongeBob SquarePants special of the same name developed by Heavy Iron Studios and published by THQ on October 26, 2009 for the Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation Portable, and Nintendo DS. The PSP version was developed by Barking Lizards Technologies and the Nintendo DS version was developed by Altron.

Why You Want to Play Truth or SQUARE

  1. Since it was developed by Heavy Iron Studios, it uses many elements from Battle for Bikini Bottom and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, such as models, textures, music, enemies, and objects, making this game as awesome as these both games, despite not being as good as these two games.
  2. Many of the levels are based on many episodes, such as 24 Hours at the Krusty Krab being based on Graveyard Shift.
  3. The Wii version supports the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, the Wii Classic Controller, and the GameCube controller.
  4. There is a black and white cheat code you can use.
  5. The Xbox 360 version was added to the backwards compatibility list for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on November 15, 2021, making the game easier to play for the Xbox users.
  6. There are fun mini challenges you can play to receive happiness objects.
  7. Great and responsive controls that fit well into action games, and are even better than some of the previous SpongeBob games.
  8. The Xbox 360 and Wii versions continue where you left off if you accidentally died in a boss fight.
  9. The graphics are really good and are accurate to the show, as they are colorful and have great characters model, even for a 2009 game, this is especially true with the Xbox 360 and Wii versions.
  10. The gameplay is really fun, even when compared to both Battle for Bikini Bottom and the movie game.
  11. Good soundtrack that feel like it's came from the show, despite having many musics that are recycled from the previous games such as Battle for Bikini Bottom.
  12. It's manage to be much better than the special, since the game is not only really fun but also had a better story, kind of like the Atlantis Squarepantis game.

Bad Qualities

  1. The PSP and DS versions make you start the boss fight all over again if you die, which can be really annoying at times.
  2. The game has lives, which means after you die a certain number of times, you are taken back to the pineapple.
  3. The PSP version looks like a downgrade from the Xbox 360 and Wii versions, as it only plays about 10-20 seconds of music, its irritating camera, mixed up controls, and different ways of things that are too hard yet on the Xbox 360 and Wii they are easy. (For example, you have to push a boombot on the PSP version instead of rolling on it like in the Xbox 360 and Wii versions, this is incredibly annoying especially if there is a timed event); it's also to the point of having a page.
  4. The Nintendo DS version is also bad, and is even worse than the PSP version.
  5. Some of the musics are recycled from Battle for Bikini Bottom, which might show a sign of laziness.
  6. Some of the levels can be a bit tedious.
  7. Some of the sounds in the PSP version can really hurt your ears, especially the security lasers in the Talent Show level.
  8. The camera on the PSP version is very irritating.
