The Graveyard is a computer art "game" developed by Belgian developer Tale of Tales (the same creators of Sunset) in which the player assumes the role of an elderly woman walking through a graveyard to a bench. A song begins to play, after which the elderly woman walks out of the graveyard and the game ends and the game was inspired by Tibetan village scene in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The game, despite receiving several awards, was crushed by players and online reviewers with negative reviews due to non-existent gameplay and ridiculously short playthrough time and high price.

"Gameplay"

The only gameplay in the game is to get Grandma from the end of the cemetery to the bench in the center of the cemetery, after which the player has to sit on this bench and the music starts. When the music ends, the player must get up from the bench and go back to the end of the graveyard. The player can move in all directions.

Why It Belongs In A Graveyard Indeed

  1. It is extremely short, being finished in just a few minutes with no challenge or captivation whatsoever, even demos of games have longer playthrough time which is unforgivable.
  2. You have to pay the outrageous price of five dollars for it, and the "game" itself is far less than a shareware demo and looks like a 3D demo made by amateur.
  3. To add insult to the injury, there actually is a demo of this game and the only difference being is that the only available ending is the one which the elderly women dies upon sitting on the bench.
  4. Completely non-existent gameplay that's almost on par with CrazyBus, the only gameplay is get to the bench, sit on the bench and back. The gameplay can be literally presented on YouTube.
  5. The graphics is absolutely terrible and looks like a Playstation 1, Nintendo 64 or Sega Saturn game.
    • The old lady model also looks bad and looks like a unfinished model from the Nintendo 64.
  6. The song playing when the old lady sits on the bench could actually be touching if it wasn't for most of the lyrics being strange and cryptic.

Reception

The game won several awards, including one of the best indie games of 2009, but the game was met with negative feedback from gamers and online reviewers who criticized the non-existent gameplay, the game's length of several minutes, and the bizarre music or poor graphics. While the game has received mixed reviews on Steam, most of the "positive" reviews are either sarcastic or disguised negative reviews.

NRGeek stated that it's not a game and added that it's not even worth five dollars, he also criticized the old lady's death and even added that grandma might as well go to this bench herself and sit on it and come back.

The game also made it to the DX list of the worst games you can find on Steam.
