The Stayover is the third episode in the first season of The Powerpuff Girls (2016).

Plot

Recovering from a candy hangover that happened the night before, Blossom and Buttercup must retrace their steps to locate Bubbles, who is missing.

Why It Rocks

  1. Some emotional moments, such as Blossom and Buttercup waking up from a candy hangover that happened the night before and the fact that they can't remember anything and lost Bubbles, along with them thinking that Bubbles was turned into a hat when told by a guy in the arcade.
  2. The party that the girls had the night before looked very cool, and it made sense why the girls had a candy hangover as they ate too much of it. The Rocktopus water slide at Splash City also looked cool and very impressive.
  3. Speaking of which, multiple flashbacks being used throughout the episode is well executed here, and feels similar to the Ed, Edd n Eddy episode, "Every Which Way But Ed", as both flashbacks helped the Eds and Blossom and Buttercup remember the flashbacks and to find Bubbles, respectively.
  4. As mentioned above, Blossom and Buttercup are likable characters as they try to retrace their steps to find Bubbles and ask people they know for help, and at the end for giving their Splash City tickets to another family.
  5. The narrator somewhat has a role here by narrating the start and end of each flashbacks. Him saying "El flashback-o" when showing the flashback with the girls watch the running of the bulls was pretty clever, along with him saying "fin" at the end.
  6. The girls do some crime-fighting in the flashback with them fighting a monster builder.
  7. Good animation as usual as they don't have any errors.
  8. Good Ending: It turns out that Bubbles was hiding under the blanket on the sofa and Blossom and Buttercup said to her that they were worried sick, and the Professor said the girls learnt their lesson and said they could still make it to Splash City. But instead of going into Splash City, the girls give the tickets to another family, which is very thoughtful and the Professor asks if the girls want ice cream - and it ends with Mojo Jojo looking to get out of the house.

Bad Qualities

  1. The title cards for the flashbacks still look lazy, as they're just a notebook background with stickers.
  2. Plot Hole: How would a bull know how to cook food?
  3. The sea monster is unlikable, as he calls Blossom & Buttercup maniacs while forcing them to stay away with him. This is justifiable, since they along with Bubbles beaten up the monster last night.
