Why The Globe Spins For America's Very First Name In Entertainment

  1. It was the very first major American movie company in history. It was also the very first major Hollywood studio.
    • On the top of the very first major, it marked the birth of Hollywood.
  2. The all-American filmmaking in its purest form.
  3. They have made many amazing or good films, examples areː
  4. Its official mascot, Woody Woodpecker.
  5. The most iconic globe logo is great.
  6. By 2004, it perfectly merged with America's very first broadcasting TV network, NBC, becoming its flagship TV network.
    • Speaking of which, even before the two entities merged, NBC (America's first name in broadcasting) and Universal (America's first name in entertainment) has had a great relationship back then as well.
  7. Great acting in a lot of films made by them.
  8. They managed to create franchises like Woody Woodpecker (its flagship franchise), Despicable Me, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, The Land Before Time, Jaws, Fast & Furious, The Purge, etc.
  9. Awesome soundtrack for the majority of the films.
  10. Most of their characters are likeable and iconic like Woody Woodpecker (its most iconic character), Norman Bates, Quint, The Bandit, Bluto, E.T., Doc and Marty, John Bender, Littlefoot, Dominic Toretto, Jason Bourne, Gru, the Minions, Chris Washington, Max the Terrier, and Buster Moon, among others. Plus, two iconic characters from DreamWorks Animation, Shrek and Little Audrey.
  11. It was the second major film studio to successfully set up its own theme park chain, after Disney.
  12. It is one of the most successful studios along with Disney, 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures and Paramount.
  13. The current theme music (Played by Jerry Goldsmith from the 1997-2012 logo and currently by Brian Tyler since 2012) that comes from the logo are well played and can be recognized, while the theme from the 1990-1997 logo (played by James Horner), while not that recognizable to the 1997 theme but other than that, it is beautifully played.

Bad Qualities

  1. They have made some bad or mediocre movies like
  2. Some of their films, even if some of them received a positive or negative reception, were box office flops.
  3. They are often VERY aggressive with their marketing campaigns for their bigger movies, the most important being Despicable Me and Jurassic World.
  4. They have completely destroyed the Jaws franchise. Due to the first Jaws movie being very successful, Universal themselves milked it into oblivion to the point where the last two movies (the ones mentioned above on BQ#1) are considered to be some of the worst movies of all time.
  5. Just like 20th Century Fox, they have a bad habit of keeping franchises around longer than they should. And only expand them more just fot the sake of making money. Like Jurassic Park/World, Despicable Me, Fast and Furious, Jaws, and some DreamWorks franchises like Trolls and The Boss Baby.
