Plot

In the Kingdom of Rosas, located off of the Iberian Peninsula, a 17-year-old girl named Asha senses a darkness that no one else does about the kingdom's ruler, King Magnifico. This eventually leads to her trying to make a passionate plea to the stars in a moment of need. Soon, an actual star from the sky named Star answers Asha's wish. After the star falls from the sky, it is revealed that it also has magical powers to grant wishes. Together, Asha and Star must overcome the evils rising in Rosas and fight for a better future in order to have something better than what they already have and for all dreams to come true for the people of Rosas.

Why It Wishes Opon A Shining Star

  1. For starters, this film is an amazing celebration of Disney100, and it has a lot of easter eggs from Disney's past movies. This movie will most likely redeem Disney. It is also an original film that is not a sequel and/or a live-action remake for once, unlike Disney's past movies. This movie will most likely be seen as an amazing love letter of longtime Disney fans, both old and new.
    • Overall, this film is a massive love letter to all Disney fans and the late Walt Disney, as it is an amazing film that celebrates the legacy and future of Disney Animation.
  2. The concept is fascinating, especially by Disney's standards. This is also amazing to see a film that is not a live-action remake, which is fantastic.
  3. Likable and really unique characters that are original, such as:
    • Asha is a witty, optimistic, and a bubbly girl who lives in the kingdom of Roses. She wants to get her grandfather Sabino who is turning 100 his wish from King Magnifico. She senses a darkness in Roses and discovers a little star named Star (sound familiar?) She, alongside Valentino and Star, plan on defeating King Magnifico to get the wishes and make them granted. In the end, she gets a job as the Fairy Godmother.
    • King Magnicfico is the King of the Rosas.
  4. Loads and loads of easter eggs to Disney's previous films (sound familiar), which is fantastic, such as:
    • The movie takes place in a book, which is a great homage to some of Disney's previous films that take place in books.
  5. The writing by Jennifer Lee and Allison Moore is nothing short of amazing, with Jennifer Lee having written Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, and Frozen II.
  6. The direction by Fawn Veerasunthorn and Chris Buck is greatly amazing. This is also the fifth Disney film to have Fawn Veerasunthorn as a director following Frozen, Zootopia, Moana, and Raya and the Last Dragon.
  7. As to be expected with most Disney movies, there are a handful of great comedy, especially from Valentino, who is the film's funniest character.
  8. The animation is gorgeous and a massive step-up from Disney movies, and it even uses CGI animation that resembles 2D animation for Star, which is really unique and creative.
  9. There are several original elements that makes this movie stand out from other Disney movies, such as the concept of wishes, a wishing star, a group of teens, etc.
  10. The world building is beautifully amazing. Especially the town of Rosas, including King Magnifico's tower.
  11. The promoting for this movie is great and a massive improvement over past Disney films. It is also an improvement of how Disney promoted Strange World.
  12. Overall, this film is a massive love letter to all Disney fans and the late Walt Disney, as it is an amazing film that celebrates the film of Disney.
  13. There are a lot of heartwarming scenes here and there, such as the ending.
  14. The posters are great, especially the posters of Asha and King Magnifico, including the official poster.
  15. Fantastic soundtrack by Julia Micahels and Dave Metzger, including the.
    • Almost all of the songs are well-written, and all of them are catchy.
  16. The ending is great, which involves the wishes being granted, Sabino playing his guitar in-front of a crowd of people, Simon apologizing, and Valentino telling that he had a dream for a utopia in which animals are all equal and don clothing like humans.
  17. Overall, this is a film of pure magic, and it shows that Disney has learned their lessons from their past movies, and it shows.
  18. The end credits are great and really creative, as they have a lot of Disney characters from past films appearing in the end credits.
  19. The character designs look great, such as King Magnifico.
  20. There's a touching mid-credits scene of Sabino singing "When You Wish Upon a Star" on his guitar, and the screen shows the Walt Disney and the Disney 100th logo after the mid-credits scene.
  21. The final battle is great and awesome to watch, as it involves Asha singing This Wish (Reprise), and all of the residents do sing it too, and they enough to get King Magnifico trapped in his staff that he put Star in.
    • King Magnifico also gets what he deserves, as he gets trapped in his staff. He also hilariously begs Queen Amaya to let him out of his staff, and she refuses.
  22. The concept art is really interesting, and can be seen as amazing and better than the actual movie.
  23. Peter Del BVecho, Juan Pablo Reyes, and Landcaster-Jones did great jobs producing the movie.
  24. All the dubs that were made of the movie are greatly amazing and straight on the point.
  25. The movie can feel nostalgic to certain people, and the movie can feel like an old Disney movie to certain people

Unwishful qualities

  1. The song "This Is The Thanks I Get?!" is a major downgrade of a villain song when compared to their older masterpieces such as "Hellfire" from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, this Wish song even became notorious on social media sites such as TikTok, with many people saying how bad it is.
  2. Similar to Hop, Escape from Planet Earth, Minions, The Grinch, Wonder Park, Scoob!, Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank Rumble, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild]], Hotel Translvania: Transformania, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the movie's pacing will most likely be too fast, especially for a Disney film.

Trivia

  • Star resembles a Luma from the Mario franchise. Coincidentally, The Super Mario Bros. Movie came out seven months prior to Wish on April 5, 2023, which features a Lumalee who is morbid and suicidal, and is voiced by Juilet Jelenic.

I would've edited this page if I had more pointers (I need to come up with more), and I decided to just make the page rather than working on it more. NewMarioBobFan (talk) 21:57, November 26, 2023 (UTC)

The videos you posted are all negative. Drag0n (talk) 23:58, November 26, 2023 (UTC)

TBH, I'm actually considering deleting this page due to the mediocre reception of this movie, and the videos about it posted here prove it. SuperStreetKombat (talk) 00:14, November 27, 2023 (UTC)

No. I worked on this page so much and if it was deleted, it would be a complete waste. I would also be mad. NewMarioBobFan (talk) 00:19, November 27, 2023 (UTC)
And the movie has gotten a lot of good reviews, similar to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken, Trolls: Band Together, and more. NewMarioBobFan (talk) 00:20, November 27, 2023 (UTC)
Well, sorry, but it is what it is. This wiki is (and should be) based on the general consensus' views on a certain product, and if this film's reception isn't all that positive, then it really shouldn't have a positive page here. SuperStreetKombat (talk) 00:22, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
