You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right? is the first episode of Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two. It released on January 10, 2021.

Premise

Several months after the events of BFB 16, Two allows a new contestant on the show. We catch up on the old contestants as they try to complete the first challenge, which is to get to the top of a building.

Why These Buttons Should Do Anything

  1. It was a great way to start the Season, as it was meant to be a followup to when there was a split in BFB 16.
  2. Before the debuters were to be sent inside the hotel, they were to be given some hints of personality.
  3. The new intro is an absolute bop.
  4. The animation and graphics are very polished, which was even promised in this video.
  5. Lots of characters are likable.
    • Basketball has been able to become her own character instead of someone who listens to anything 8-Ball says, along with forming a new rivalry with Golf Ball.
    • Naily has gotten time to shine in this episode.
    • Winner seems like the best character to debut as they seem to be the opposite of Loser and there was even foreshadowing of them together!
  6. The character dynamics are pretty good. Such as Naily and Price Tag, Basketball and Snowball, Marker and Lightning, etc.
  7. There are new teams created in this episode. And some of them are great. (Team8s, Are You Okay, The S!, etc)
  8. The new grasslands generated by Two is gorgeous. Even Naily points it out!
  9. The challenge may be simple but is also fun to watch and intense.
    • The strategies for it are also pretty neat. Such as with Team8s and The S!.
  10. This scene.
  11. There is even a flashback to what happened to the EXITors in BFB so there are no blanks left out.
  12. This episode starts Two's likeability as a character, as in their debut episode they were more jerkish and convinced contestants to abandon Four's show. Here they are more encouraging to others and supportive of their decisions, although they are still a bit unlikeable here but quickly improves onward.

Bad Qualities

  1. The next episode took over a year to come out. It would be understandable for this episode, though since it's the first one.
  2. Nonexisty would've been the 2nd contestant to debut with Winner, but that wasn't the case since they don't exist. This means that 5,697 people had wasted their vote.

Reception

The episode had gotten a 8.8/10 rating on IMDB, and is ranked #2 as the best TPOT episode behind "Outbreak At Stake", and is ranked #3 as one of the best episodes overall alongside "Outbreak At Stake", and "Don't Dig Straight Down".

Trivia

  • This is the first episode that is not directed by the creators Cary Huang and Michael Huang.
