Angry Birds Seasons (Release)

Angry Birds is a puzzle video game developed by Finnish computer game developer Rovio Entertainment that started the Angry Birds franchise. Inspired primarily by a sketch of stylized wingless birds, the game was first released for iOS and Maemo in December 2009.

Since that time, over 12 million copies of the game have been purchased from the iOS App Store, which has prompted the company to design versions for other touchscreen-based smartphones, most notably those using the Android, Symbian, Windows Phone and BlackBerry 10 operating systems. The series has since expanded to include titles for dedicated video game consoles and for PCs. A sequel named Angry Birds 2 was released on July 30, 2015.

Unfortunately, this game, along with the other classic Angry Birds games, have been delisted in 2019, during the 10th anniversary of the franchise. Despite this, they finally responded to this issue in 2021, and currently have plans to rerelease most of them in a new engine, the original getting a remake in 2022 called Rovio Classics: Angry Birds. On July 16, 2021, an Angry Birds game being stated as "inspired" from the original Angry Birds called Angry Birds Reloaded was released for Apple Arcade featuring levels from the original Angry Birds and Angry Birds Seasons with characters and locations from the Angry Birds computer-animated films.

Why It Gets Three Stars

Classic

  1. The concept of the game's plot about a flock of birds attacking green pigs in response to them stealing their eggs was interesting and original, and is executed well.
  2. Excellent graphics and art style, especially for 2009 standards. It is both simplistic but nice to look at. The art style later got improved in later updates.
  3. Likable and unique characters, such as Red, King Pig, Bomb and Matilda.
  4. Unique, simple and addictive gameplay where you use a slingshot to fling birds to destroy structures and pop pigs.
  5. Each bird has its own attributes, making them unique. For example, Chuck can speed up and is great at breaking wood, and Terence is very strong and can break ice, wood and stone with no effort whatsoever.
  6. Creative level designs, especially in later installments.
  7. The game is heavily supported by the developers, with many updates added to the game and the franchise is still going strong thanks to them.
  8. Huge marketing that should appeal to the fans of the game.
  9. It's one of the games that boosted the popularity of mobile games, as it became one of the most recognized mobile games ever along with Subway Surfers and Fruit Ninja.
  10. The Golden Egg bonus levels can be unlocked if you find hidden eggs and the levels are fantastic and very creative compared to the levels in the normal mode.
  11. Red's Mighty Feathers was a great addition, because unlike the other episodes it has a new style of gameplay known as "Egg Defender".
  12. It has some very well-composed and catchy songs, most notably the main theme, which became a popular internet meme since it was catchy.
  13. It was even popular enough to get a remake in 2022, with all the levels made before 2013 included, in addition to completely new ones to take the place of levels made between 2013 and 2017, and it even comes with the Mighty Eagle powerup for no additional cost, something you had to pay 99c extra for in the original.
  14. It was the main reason how mobile games got very popular over the years, and it saved Rovio from bankruptcy.

Reloaded

  1. The game is more HD looking, and the game is also somewhat based on The Angry Birds Movie 2.
  2. Zeta finally appears in a slingshot game as an antagonist (her 2nd appearance if you don't count Angry Birds 2.)
  3. The idea about the Pigs & Zeta teaming up is a well executed idea. And also rare, since they never did that in the movie.
  4. The eagles also make their very 1st appearance in an Angry Birds game.
  5. Garry & Courtney are now playable characters, which is awesome, as the idea about adding more playable pigs is very well done.
  6. The idea about remastering the original Angry Birds is nice, as if Rovio actually listened to their fans.
  7. The levels from the Angry Birds Movies also appear in the Angry Birds Movie 2 chapters, and that idea about adding them is nice.
  8. The theme for the game is catchy, like the original, in face, like the classic, it was used in teasers.

Angry Qualities

Original

  1. There are several versions of the game that aren't supported by Rovio, such as the console and PC releases.
  2. It has gone highly downhill in recent years. When it became F2P in recent years, it became an ad fest even if you had paid for the game before.
  3. Although great, this game is too similar to another game, called "Crush the Castle", developed by Joey Betz.
  4. Red is incredibly underpowered in this game, since he has no special power at all and weak physical strength.
  5. This game, along with the others, (Such as Seasons, Rio, & Star Wars 1 and 2) are no longer available to download legally since 2019. It can only be obtained through piracy, through the previous purchases menu of your preferred app store if you downloaded it before 2019, and any remaining physical copies of the PC port or Angry Birds Trilogy. Fortunately, in 2021 the new CEO of Rovio made a plan to remake all the classic games that don't require licenses in a new engine and re-release them at a later date, starting with this in 2022.
  6. Some ending cutscenes from the older versions of the game can be dark and terrifying to some people because of King Pig's look, but it was later improved in newer updates.
  7. The 2022 remake, only has the levels from 2009 to 2012, and all the other levels made after that won't ever be released again, and will instead have new levels in its place.

Reloaded

  1. While this hasn't been confirmed, when you complete 3 stars in the level, Sound Ideas, CHILDREN, CROWD - SMALL STUDIO AUDIENCE OF CHILDREN: BIG CHEER, CHEERING 01, the infamous overused kids cheering sound, might be heard in the background, the sound is overused and annoying. This sound effect was used in Angry Birds Seasons Summer Camp level as an ambient sound.
    • Speaking of which, like The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (game), the game is somewhat a reskin of Angry Birds Friends, even using the same winning animation as that same game.
  2. Angry Birds Reloaded is locked... under a $60 a year paywall (or $6 a month) due to Apple Arcade, which is a very idiotic move and terrible decisions, given that the game is basically a re-skin.
    • In addition, due to the game being an Apple arcade exclusive, it is only on Apple, which can be disappointing for Android users who wanted to play it.
