Camp Lazlo is an American animated comedy television series created by Joe Murray, which ran on Cartoon Network from 2005 to 2008.

Why Lazlo Was His Name O

  1. The animation is solid and fluid thanks to Rough Draft Studios.
  2. Likable characters, including Lazlo, Raj and Clam, as well as:
    • Scoutmaster Lumpus
    • Slinkman
    • Edward
    • Chip and Skip
    • Samson
    • Patsy Smiles
    • Nina
    • Jane Doe
    • Commander Hoo Ha
    • Dave and Ping Pong
    • And even the incidental campers such as Harold and Almondine.
  3. It borrows elements from Rocko's Modern Life and SpongeBob SquarePants, in fact, Joe Murray created the former show.
  4. Good morals and lessons.
  5. Good voice talents from Carlos Alazraqui, Jeff Bennett, Tom Kenny, Mr. Lawrence, Steve Little and Jodi Benson (yes, that Jodi Benson).
  6. Catchy theme song and music themes. Especially the public domain music it uses, such as APM.
  7. It featured heartwarming moments.
  8. It featured an hour-long TV special Camp Lazlo: Where's Lazlo?, which is a prequel to the show, and aged so good.
  9. While the last episode was mean-spirited, the series proudly ends, with Lumpus getting arrested for messing up the joy and goodness of Camp Kidney.
  10. Had a handful of great episodes such as "Gone Fishing(Sort Of)", "Boxing Edward", "7 Deadly Sandwiches", "Swimming Buddy", "I've Never Bean On The Map/ Harold and Raj", "Tusk Wizard", "Snow Beans/ Irreconcilable Dungfrences", "The Nothing Club", "Bearly A Vacation", "Strange Trout From Outer Space/ Cheese Orbs", "Lazlo's First Crush", "Beans and Weenies", and "Oh Brother, Who Art Thou?".

Bad Qualities

  1. Scoutmaster Lumpus (its main villain), Ms Mucus, Gretchen, and Edward can be unlikable characters at times.
  2. Some bad episodes here and there such as "Samson Needs a Hug", "Living La Vida Lumpus", "Burpless Bean", "Mascot Madness", "Dirt Nappers", "Dosey Doe", "Camper's All Pull Pants", "It's No Picnic", "Camp Kidney Stinks", "S is for Crazy", "Bad Luck Be A Camper Tonight" and "Lumpus' Last Stand" (the series finale).
  3. Similar to Rocko's Modern Life, some of the humor can feel a bit too juvenile.
  4. Some plots were stupid, like the episode that revolves around Lazlo having to go pee really badly only for all the bathrooms to be occupied.
    • There was a couple of weird episodes as well such as "Camper's All Pull Pants", "Meat Man", "Hello Dolly", "A Job Well Dung", "Scoop Of The Century" and "The Engagement".
  5. While the show itself is enjoyable the episodes that don't feature Lazlo can be boring and uncomfortable to watch at times.

Trivia

  • This was the first show Regular Show creator J. G. Quintel ever worked on.
  • Edward and Scoutmaster Lumpus were Joe Murray's favorite characters to write for because of how fun they are.
  • Thurop Van Orman, who was first the writer of The Powerpuff Girls (1998) is also the writer of this show.
