"Dora's Brother & Sister Quarrel" is the 644th episode from the 2005 series of Doraemon.
Plot
Doraemon has eaten the premium melon bread from a popular bakery that Dorami finally got after an hour! What's more, Doraemon says that he's just melon bread without any regrets, but Dorami doesn't stop.
Bad Qualities
- The main problem with this episode is that while Dorami isn't really wrong with the fact that she would prefer that her brother is more caring, she is just unlikable just because of a melon bread.
- Both Doraemon and Dorami (at least in the beginning) are unlikable and it's hard to even choose what side you are with, similar to the "Boys vs Girls" episode from SMG4.
- Dorami does crying just for the fact that Doraemon eat her melon bread, in which he probably didn't know until she came, and also when Nobita propose her his melon bread, she just said that she just wanted the green one and did hit his melon bread, in which it did fall on the ground, though thankfully Nobita wasn't angry, but it made Doraemon very annoyed and they both are against them.
- Doraemon act like a complete jerk to Dorami when he's eaten her melon bread, and absolutely don't care that she just straight out said that she hate him, howewer he would be much worst in the second half of the episode.
- Dorami choose to use a gadget to make him like Gian, howewer it wasn't a good idea and did caused a ton of troubles where Doraemon just take his role as a great brother too seriously after this.
- Doraemon acting like Gian, while somewhat funny, is just out of character for him, especially that Dorami did this just so that he respect her more but he already respected her before that gadget, even if he didn't in this episode.
- In fact he is way more unlikable when he act like Gian, as when Nobita accidently fall on Dorami when he accidently walk on the cup of tea, and could not control himself, he almost would beat him up, and when a cockroache appear, he goes completely crazy just to get it dead, much to Dorami and Nobita being scared.
- The worst part about this is that when Gian was going to get the last melon bread for his sister, Doraemon did seen this and argue with him to get it, and Gian didn't wanted to give him, which did caused a fight in almost the end of the episode.
- The scene where Dorami said that she hate Doraemon is very mean-spirited, especially just because of the fact that Doraemon did eat her melon bread, which would be justified if they were 3 or 4 years old but they aren't and are possibly adults.
- Suneo serve as a filler and is seen in only one scene, in addition he serve absolutely no purpose to the episode plot other than telling Dorami and Nobita that Doraemon punched him just because he had no melon bread.
- Plot Holes:
- How does Dorami think that making Doraemon into Gian personality was a good idea, since in other older episodes she seen how Gian was when abusive, this is a perfect exemple of a missed continuity.
- How does Suneo got punched by Doraemon just for saying that he doesn't had melon bread, and also why does Doraemon even did that especially because Suneo didn't even appear before that single scene.
- The fight with Doraemon and Gian is not really that serious for two guys that are angry at each other, howewer this show was not intended to be violent, so at least it isn't disturbing.
- A rather mediocre ending where Doraemon and Dorami being angry at each other for no reasons, and even Nobita tried to say to them to stop since it wasn't even something worth for fighting.
Good Qualities
- Dorami (in the second half) and Nobita are likable.
- Gian, despite fighting Doraemon, is still a tolerable character and fight for defensing himself from Doraemon.
- Amazing animation as usual with the 2017 edition (while this episode is from 2021).
- The concept isn't really that terrible but it was poorly executed because of the reason of making Doraemon like Gian being ridiculous.
- Despite having the main characters of this episode unlikable (except Nobita), the episode might still had hilarously funny moments, as usual with a Doraemon episode, such exemples could include when Doraemon tried to chase the cockroache.
- This episode at least is still not the worst out the show since this isn't bad enough for a torture episode and there's still enough funny moments to make it stand out.
- While this episode concept isn't the best, at least it somehow show how Gian and Doraemon care for their sister, despite that in some episodes they doesn't get along very well.
