- Lady Dynamite
- The Ranch
- On My Block
- Lucifer (originally a Fox original)
- Netflix later tried to make interactive titles, one of which is a port of Minecraft: Story Mode.
- The port, while decent, does lack a bunch of things such as being able to free-roam, you can only choose between the 2 Jessies (The male and the female), and it lacks some gameplay elements.
- You can create multiple profiles which is great for families; this feature also comes with a kids' mode so that if you set the profile to be for a kid under 13, only children's films will be available to the user of the profile.
- You can only change the kids mode lock through a computer, which you need to sign into so that kids cannot bypass it.
- Speaking of the kids mode, you can also update the kids profile when they turn 13 to allow PG-13, R, TV-14, and TV-MA-rated content without deleting their profile.
- You can even set an icon for each profile with options, including characters from your favorite Netflix shows.
- The website is 100% ad-free; nevertheless, you do need to pay for the site.
- The staff is very responsive, they fix various issues and make the site more enjoyable, such as recovering the accounts of those victims to a hacker.
- They feature new shows/movies on the site and remove some shows/movies to balance their selection of content.
- The site allows more than 1 user to use the site simultaneously; again, it's a great feature for families.
- It helped introduce many foreign shows and movies to people all over the world, Squidgame being the best example.
- The service is available on many platforms, including streaming boxes, Blu-ray players, Smart TVs, Android devices, and even video game consoles and handhelds.
- It's very easy to use for new users.
- It inspired other great streaming services, such as Max (formerly known as HBO Max), Disney+, Peacock, Hulu, Paramount+, Amazon Prime Video and many more.
- The site still offers DVD delivery for titles that aren't available for streaming.
- They're improving a lot of cartoons such as Johnny Test, with a reboot with the cast of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic being behind it, better animation, and a better theme song as well.
- They saved the production of Nimona after Disney shut down Blue Sky Studios.
- Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they added several movies that people can't see in movie theaters due to the pandemic.
- They offer international distribution for various titles that aren't available on Netflix in their home country, such as:
- Rick and Morty
- Close Enough
- Going back to WIR#8, in addition to the interactive titles, they have started to offer actual video games, though, currently, only on Android. It should also be noted that Netflix acquired video game developer Night School Studio in September 2021.
- They've saved video game adaptations by making extremely high-quality video game adaptations such as Arcane (Based on League of Legends) and The Cuphead Show (Based on Cuphead).
Bad Qualities
- Netflix's back catalog changes every month, with shows and films moving to other channels and services.
- For example, Disney's content was completely removed due to it being moved to Disney+.
- Their handling of Neon Genesis Evangelion was pretty bad.
- They are known for canceling original shows for little to no reason, usually after the show's first season, despite some of those shows having good ratings on them.
- Nowadays, Netflix is quite pricey, with the basic plan costing $10 a month, the standard plan costing $15.5 a month, and the premium plan costing $20 a month.
- Netflix is currently testing a feature that would make account owners pay extra to add users outside of their household.
- They have a handful of bad and/or mediocre television shows and films such as:
- Big Mouth
- Cuties (the most infamous original, which was removed)
- 365 Days
- Bill Nye Saves the World
- Daybreak
- Another Life
- Unnatural Selection
- Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!
- 13 Reasons Why (also an infamous and controversial original show)
- Hoops
- Paradise PD
- ReBoot: The Guardian Code
- Team Kaylie
- The I-Land
- Super Drags
- The 2015 reboot of Richie Rich
- The Open House
- Glitter Force
- The Kissing Booth
- The Boss Baby: Back in Business
- The Last Kids on Earth (Book 1)
- Pacific Heat (removed)
- The Ridiculous 6 (also often considered Netflix's worst film)
- The Magic School Bus Rides Again
- BNK48: One Take
- Too Hot to Handle
- Sex/Life
- Enter the Anime
- Home: Adventures with Tip and Oh
- On top of that, they licensed the French movie Cuties; it is a movie that is real pedo-bait. This movie tries to say it's educating people and thinks it is against sexual exploitation of young kids but does it wrong by doing the same.
- Not helping matters is that Ted Sarandos, Netflix's CEO, actually defended this film.[1] This shows he has no care about the safety of children by defending a movie that (again) is pure pedo-bait.
- Worst of all, they didn't even bother removing Cuties from their platform (until September 2024).
- Because of all these reasons, Netflix got worse between 2020 to late 2021 until they would eventually recover after the release of Squid Game. That was until 2022 when things took some darker, but somehow even worse turns by worsening again (in terms of business practices this time), even before and after they had been losing a lot of subscribers a total of 700,000 due to their services on Russia ended. Worst of all, they blamed it all on competition and people who use other people's passwords. The Netflix Animation for Kids Department has axed 70 jobs from the people working on their own projects in all in favor of The Boss Baby and Big Mouth.
- Certain shows and movies don't have everything; for instance, Yu-Gi-Oh and Transformers: Prime have only one season; they don't have everything from the Pokémon anime. While they had season 1, that season only had 52 episodes in terms of the American release of that season. This is quite hard to believe because Season 1/Indigo League has 80 episodes in the US (79 episodes as of 2013 due to the Jynx controversy). While they had the X&Y series (Series 17-19) on their platform (mainly in the US), the licensing for that era did not last long as the licensing for all three of those seasons had their licenses expired on March 31, 2019. But with the exceptions of the Sun and Moon era (Series 20-22), Season 1 (again only 52 episodes), the Alternative Continuity movies (M20, M22, and M23), and the Mewtwo remake from 2019, no other seasons are licensed to Netflix.
- Speaking of X&Y, the only X&Y-related thing you will get is the Happy Birthday to You short video they made. Thankfully, it is on Netflix's platform to this day.
- Netflix's UK counterpart added the infamous Leaving Neverland documentary, which was thankfully removed after facing backlash from a lot of Michael Jackson's fans from the UK.
- Additionally, they delist stuff without warning.
- Moreover, many popular classic films are also unavailable on Netflix USA; for example, the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy is only available on Netflix Australia, but this can be justified in some cases.
- Because removing some shows/movies and the service's originals/exclusives takes up most of the service's library, there is a limited selection of non-Netflix original/exclusive content.
- Sometimes they give inaccurate age ratings to some of their shows or movies. (e.g. teen TV shows are rated 18+ in many countries, equivalent to the NC-17 rating in the United States).
- They label several movies and shows like Glitter Force, The Sinner (a USA Network original), The Serpent (a BBC One Original), Happy! (a Syfy Original) and Puffin Rock as "Netflix Originals", even though other companies made those; Netflix was never involved in their creation, which makes them egotistical.
- They also label shows airing outside of the US such as Danger Mouse and Wakfu as a Netflix Original.
- To make matters worse, the former only has one series divided into two seasons, and the latter's Season 1 trailer is in French with no way to change it to English with no Season 2 trailer.
- They also label shows airing outside of the US such as Danger Mouse and Wakfu as a Netflix Original.
- It can be hard to find something you like thanks to the horrible search engine that brings up shows that have nothing to do with what you typed in! The (number)% match feature was also useless as it is rarely below 80% and barely even works; for example, if you watch any preschool show, then virtually all other preschool shows will show up as 90% match or higher just because it is aimed at the same audience as the show you watched.
- Device sharing is very limited (depending on your plan, you can only share one, two, or four devices at a time; that depends on how much you pay).
- They have a hobby of making bad live-action adaptations of animated shows such as Death Note & Winx Club, as well as distributing bad Japanese live-action anime films such as Fullmetal Alchemist (2017) under their banner. In fact, their live-action adaptations are so bad that several social media users started mocking their adaptations by the popular " Manga vs Anime vs Netflix Adaptation " internet meme.
- They abuse the word "Anime" a lot, as whenever an anime-styled cartoon comes out, they will label it as "A Netflix Original Anime Series" or "A Netflix Anime Film", despite being made by a Western animation studio rather than Japanese.
- On the current TV version, there is a very annoying auto-preview feature where if you highlight a show for more than 1 second, a preview for the movie/show you selected plays, with sound. Thankfully, you can now disable this through the website. You can also remove certain shows from your "Continue Watching" section.
- Originally it was a collection of five previews with music that would either play in a loop or only show them once. However, they started slowly removing them in 2018 and replaced them with much more annoying previews featuring clips from the show/movie.
- They recently fired many executives and directors of Netflix Animation, leading Netflix to cancel a lot of animated shows that have been greenlit and/or are still ongoing.
Trivia
- Not only is Netflix for TV and movies, but also a website due to the fact you can search up Netflix on your computer.[2]
