No Hat for Pat is a Season 6 episode of SpongeBob SquarePants.
Plot
Patrick wears a hat to promote for a job in the Krusty Krab, but he uses this for tripping, which praises customers.
Qualities That Shouldn't Get a Hat
- This episode lets out a huge plot-hole: why would Patrick need The Krusty Krab employee hat if he had already worn the hat several times? Worst of all, how does he uses that for entertainment, when it is useful and reliable for jobs?
- While Patrick is likable, his purpose is to fall over the floor, which is an idotic move.
- Even before the tripping scenes, Patrick fails to get a hat by failing to do trainings, which are bad.
- Mr. Krabs torturing Patrick was not funny at all.
- In fact, there were some deleted scenes in this episode that had Patrick being tortured. He is only there for entertainment purposes instead of teaching Patrick on how to cook Krabby Patties or use the cashier.
- Bad beginning: Patrick was somewhat unlikable when he told SpongeBob to get rid of his "stupid hat" even though it was his job.
- While blood is not seen directly, Patrick's has a skin that looks like a scar, which is a bit inappropriate for viewers.
- Squidward does not serve a purpose but to scare the customers away with his clarinet.
- Mr. Krabs' punishment, while satisfying, is too light, as he reprimands Patrick by confiscating the Krusty Krab hat so that he would not work here again, causing Patrick to leave in tears and that is cruel.
Qualities That Should Get a Hat
- Mr. Krabs does get his clothes ripped off for abusing Patrick.
- Despite being pointless and being a plot-device, Squidward gets his comeuppance by landing on a barrel of sea urchins, due to him scaring the customers away with his horrible clarinet music.
- Patrick and SpongeBob are likable, even though Patrick only unlikeable at the beginning.
- Not only is Patrick's torture not played for comedic purposes, but it actually does succeed in making the audience feel bad for him.
- For some audiences, this might be revenge for what Patrick did to Mr. Krabs in Pat No Pay (or SpongeBob, if you're thinking about the episode, "The Card").
- The ending is somewhat decent as SpongeBob gives Patrick the hat, only to fall off.
Trivia
- In production order, this is the first episode to use the new Nickelodeon logo
- When this episode premiered, it was paired with "Goo Goo Gas," but it has since been re-airing with "Toy Store of Doom."
- Patrick was originally going to actual blood on his nose after a certain fall.
