Planet Sketch is an animated television series co-produced by Aardman Animations and Decode Entertainment, with animation production by C.O.R.E. Toons. The show was first aired on CITV on 10 September 2005, and later began airing on the Canadian network Teletoon starting on 19 November 2005. The series ended its run on 30 December 2007.
Why This Show Makes You Not Wanna Live on This Planet Anymore
- Every single sketch has the same setup and punchline, which naturally gets tedious very quickly.
- This show is aggressively unfunny, to the point where it makes shows like Angela Anaconda, The Problem Solverz, Secret Mountain Fort Awesome, and even Billy Dilley's Super-Duper Subterranean Summer look like masterpieces by comparison!! And there's a reason why this show's considered the worst thing Aardman has ever made, even more so than Chop Socky Chooks.
- The animation for this show, especially in the first season is just ugly as sin. Take the animation in a decent film like Flushed Away, and actually make it really bad.
- Basically, both projects at Aardman were made to resemble the Wallace & Gromit-style character designs of Nick Park, but the rendering in Flushed Away actually looked pretty good, whereas Planet Sketch had horrible rendering, lacks details, and just has a very bad movement style.
- None of the characters in any sketches were likable or entertaining. They're all one-dimensional, especially Captain Gagtastic, who's only purpose is to make unfunny jokes. And his jokes, coincidentally enough, actually were unfunny, because of how repetitive he is, no matter if his bad jokes were intentional or not.
- There's also the Nose Picker, because that's "classic".
- Parping Ponies, where the young one farts at the end of every sketch; and that's a shame too, because Aardman does know how to make toilet humor work in their projects like Wallace & Gromit, as well as Shaun the Sheep, but the difference between this, and those cartoons, is that those cartoons were able to add substance to their toilet humor, while also clashing in with other kinds of humor, where as this sketch just repeats the same joke over and over again, down to the point where Phineas and Ferb becomes less repetitive by comparison, and that show's actually really good!
- There's also the Japanese fighting fish, as well as the Ninja Handyman; and both are considered racist to Asians, even back then.
- The Rapping Hoodies are just lazy.
- The Spacemen is just unoriginal.
Redeeming Qualities
- The Dinosaur Doctor may be the only sketch that could give out a slight laugh.
- The theme song is admittedly decent to listen to.
