Issues with the Blacklisted/Unreliable list

So lately, I've noticed that a large portion of sources that are on the unreliable list on the Reliability Meter such as IGN and Kotaku are added as credible sources to several pages despite them being added to the meter's blacklist.

This is rather hypocritical, because not only are these sources unreliable, but them being added as sources despite them being blacklisted defeats the purpose of avoiding them when adding reception or videos to pages, and it also just makes the unreliable/blacklisted list redundant.

Prior to Allistayrian/Zeephare joining the old QP on Miraheze, a vast majority of admins agreed that YouTubers or websites who had their own pages on negative wikis and/or on the reliability meter's unreliable list shouldn't be added as sources whatsoever, because doing so is hypocritical and makes it look like the Reception Wikis DO consider them to be reliable.

Another thing worth mentioning is that a lot of these "reliable" sources already have a bad reputation outside of the Reception Wikis, and the goal of the Reception Wikis is supposed to follow the opinions of the general consensus, which also means listening to YouTubers or websites that actually ARE reliable, not ones that AREN'T reliable, so I think we should just stay true to what this meter says.

This is yet another issue that this wiki repeating from the old QP apart from abuse of the Mature template, inappropriate custom header additions, etc., and I never even noticed it until now, so I figured now would be a good opportunity to bring it up. Hello? Is anyone here? SuperStreetKombat (talk) 22:12, February 13, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm here now. I would never use unreliable/blacklisted sources myself, and mostly use ones that ARE reliable. But yeah, whatever sources YOU deem reliable should definitely be that way. CarltheToonMan42 (talk) 22:29, February 13, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Wait till you see the amount of pages that Use Mr Enter as their Source. User:Andrewgtv05 23:07, February 13, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Finally. Someone else said it. Snow (talk) 05:54, February 14, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You know what I'm thinking, what if we put the Source Reliability-O-Meter to the wiki's sidebar so that people can have an easier time accessing it? Because I don't think a lot of users are even aware of this article existing, which is why not a lot of people are engaging in this discussion. Snow (talk) 05:55, February 14, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oooh, that's a very good idea! That way, they'll know exactly which sources to not use...and which ones to do so with. CarltheToonMan42 (talk) 05:58, February 14, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I know I'm semi-late to this discussion, but what do you mean by "putting the reliability meter" to the wiki's sidebar? Do you mean putting it under the User Tools section or the Main Page of the wiki? Or do you mean that purple bar at the top of the wiki that has sandboxes, contributions, talk pages, etc.? Your suggestion could work so that this reliability meter has far more credibility. SuperStreetKombat (talk) 8:45, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
The MediaWiki:Sidebar? The thingy that has the "Main Page", "Recent Changes", "Random Page", and "Help about "MediaWiki" links? You or some other admin can simply edit this page I mentioned by adding the link to the blacklist. Snow (talk) 15:55, February 26, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I missed this one. Frankly I don't like the meter because its idea of what is reliable and what is not has been highly arbitrary and I don't like making things this fuzzy official. It will probably incur further wars and as I've noted in comments I'd rather individually judge what's best for a given page, including to offer divergent opinions if there is already a selection of strong videos or articles. However if folks are in favor I can stick it in the sidebar with no fuss. I suppose it will be easier to patch up with more attention and traffic. --Raidarr (talk) 10:06, February 26, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What section would the Youtuber Vara Dark aka Dark Titan Media belong in?

I ask because she could be intresting to see where she belongs for the Source Reliability-O-Meter list if accepted? Sonicx9us (talk) 03:44, September 7, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
