This page doesn't work very well.

The reason why is because that the page always crashes whenever I go on it along with the Disney (2003-present) page so what's the deal with that? Batboy234 (talk) 04:54, May 9, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

This page has way too many details. That's what. SuperStreetKombat (talk) 04:55, May 9, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, could we get rid of some of it? Batboy234 (talk) 04:56, May 9, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Batboy234, I wouldn't want it to happen. Also, what details could we get rid of. Including the fact that I completely intentionally made the page super long since it is a Nintendo page, aside from undetailing the pointers. I might as well do that for the sequel.
I have massively reduced the page. It needs more cuts and revision for quality but this was just so it would even save and load properly. Likely the main cause for issue is the volume of videos and media which cause performance problems, we need to enforce a hard cap. Much of the opening text is flagrantly stolen without attribution from other wikis so that goes until it's written originally. I eliminated whole swathes of pointers which needlessly bloated the page and did not meaningfully contribute: when you're scrolling a full page of quoted lines, someone has failed in page creation. I've selectively nixed subpointers which don't actually add anything, just pad out length or only summarize the story without any relation to the reception purpose of the wiki.
Length is not the key. Quality is, length tends to come with it but not like this. Old content is not to be restored unless the stolen stuff is made original or the pointers overall are better cleaned up (many are poorly written or just plain bad pointers). What I saw looking into this page is frankly ridiculous and I don't want to see it in the mainspace, certainly not on a featured page. If I removed it then it had one of these issues or was totally unhelpful as a pointer. Quality is not just listing whatever comes into your brain, it includes sourcing (screenshots, mentioning the videos that actually demonstrate what you're talking about) and actually explaining the positive or negative thing as appropriate. I may have overcut on some sections so someone should clean up after me if I broke something: the page didn't even save the first time, so I did it again and cut even more. I reiterate that the page is not to be reverted to what it was.
I'll admit I just lazy cut the videos section, someone can take the time to better select the videos but there should be no more than 10 in a section at most here. If that means things need to be cut, choose the best or link the rest... in a hider box so it doesn't bloat out the page. Images should be cut or made into a gallery page. In fact in cases like this if ultra long page-length lists are needed, just make them subpages and link especially if they are not essential to the overall summary.
Similar should be done with the Disney page if it suffers the same issues. Hopefully this gives the staff something to go on for future cases as well.
