Template talk:Mature

This template has been suffering from abuse lately

Lately, users have been adding this template to pages that don't even need it to begin with: Latiro was adding it to pages of kid-friendly shows (namely Ed Edd N Eddy or Teen Titans Go), and FreezingTNT added this template to the talk page on Cuties, when talk pages don't really need templates of any kind, and even did an edit war because of it.

This is starting to become a lot like the old days on Miraheze's QP (especially TTSW) where NSFW templates were inappropriately added to articles, and we need to either start taking proper care of this template and take stricter messures against those who misuse it or simply do away with it. Actually, talk pages for mature-tagged pages DO need mature tags. Because what if kids who haven't read any main pages click onto any links for any of their talk pages and find out about anything that is inappropriate? FreezingTNT (talk) 11:17, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Can I ask you something? Can you please stop undoing an admin's edits and edit warring? I've already told you to stop doing that, and yet you keep persisting on what you've been doing. No offense, but you're partly one of the reasons why this template is being misused and it's this close to being either deleted or under stricter messures. Stop making sure kids see inappropriate terms, subjects, topics or words on talk pages. They are not old enough. They are not 18 or older. They don't have the capacity to consent. FreezingTNT (talk) 16:53, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
What exactly does consent have to do with inappropriate content? Kids looking at such content is not a matter of them "consenting" to it, but rather that they choose to read it for whatever reason. If anyone under 18 wants to read a conversation that deals with heavy subject matter, they're free to do so; otherwise, they're free to not read it. Forcing the latter is unnecessary censorship. Tali64³ (talk) 17:02, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
There's a reason kids shouldn't know about things like sex, porn, etc. There's a reason kids shouldn't watch porn. There's a reason kids shouldn't have sex. Because they're not old enough to know or comprehend or understand any of these things. Their brains are not developed enough to know or comprehend or understand any of these things.
And I speak from personal experience: I've been seeing porn since I was 13, and it's fucked up my brain. My perception of women is fucked up, and I don't want any of this pain. I don't want to have these overwhelmingly sexual and objectifying feelings. I just want my sex drive to be gone. FreezingTNT talk) 17:05, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
In the age of the Internet, children and teenagers are exposed to inappropriate content all the time, intentionally or not (if they weren't, the stereotype of the porn-addicted teen wouldn't exist); if they already know about such material and are mature enough to handle it, there is no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to read discussions concerning such material. Tali64³ (talk) 17:12, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
And I'm saying that anyone under the age of 18 should NOT be exposed to them AT ALL. It fucks up brains, warps their perspectives on sex and other people (including women), and turns them into sex addicts. FreezingTNT (talk) 17:14, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
And I'm saying that they will be exposed to such material regardless. People's brains don't just suddenly develop on their 18th birthday; as they grow, their understanding and comprehension of the world grows as well. As such, they are able to comprehend things more maturely as they age. This is mostly the reason why COPPA defined a kid as under 13 instead of under 18; people 13+ are expected to be mature enough to handle certain material (within reason). Viewing too much inappropriate material can be damaging if you're young enough, but being exposed to a moderate amount isn't bad. Tali64³ (talk) 17:23, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I don't know about you, but I think this template needs to go, because users have been misusing it for months, and today things have gotten so much worse for it, so I'm not sure if we can keep it any longer. SuperStreetKombat (talk) 17:27, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I am trying out abuse filters as a viable solution to prevent issues; if they fail, then I don't care if the template gets removed. Tali64³ (talk) 17:30, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Let's hope that works. SuperStreetKombat (talk) 17:31, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Let's hope that fails, and any and every innocent kid in the world avoids and never allows porn, sex, inappropriate terms, etc. into their lives. FreezingTNT (talk) 17:32, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello? FreezingTNT (talk) 18:54, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The template is not at fault in this situation, we should not throw the proverbial baby with the bathwater. All roads lead to FreezingTNT being disruptive, that is where the problem is. --Raidarr (talk) 23:27, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
"And I'm saying that they will be exposed to such material regardless." And I'm saying that we should be making sure kids DON'T see them AT ALL. Even Pornhub made it so in one state so that you have to be 18 or older in order to access the website, so all porn sites and stuff should be age-restricted. Even Reddit made it so all NSFW things are age-restricted so that kids wouldn't see them.
"People's brains don't just suddenly develop on their 18th birthday" Yeah, but 18 is still the general consensus on when a kid becomes an adult, and kids shouldn't be exposed to these words, topics, terms or subjects under the age of 18, and they also shouldn't have sex with anyone because they can't consent because they're too young. There's a reason it's illegal and immoral to have sex with anyone under the age of 18. Because their brains are not developed enough to consent.
"Viewing too much inappropriate material can be damaging if you're young enough, but being exposed to a moderate amount isn't bad." A hunger for sex and curiosity can get the best of you. We can't trust anyone and everyone under the age of 18 to never continue looking up inappropriate material after seeing even one.
At the end of the day, you are pedophile enablers and enablers of kids looking up, knowing about and/or consuming inappropriate things, such as porn, sexual material, inappropriate material, nudity, inappropriate terms/words/topics/subjects (porn, sex, pedophilia, fetishes, rape, etc.), etc. Burn in a supernova explosion in a black hole for all I care. You NEVER deserve mercy or forgiveness AT ALL. You are the reason why people under the age of 18 and people over the age of 18 are suffering. FreezingTNT (talk) 17:29, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Amounts to name-calling and more faulty logic. Please drop this subject and move on to other things. Thank you. Tali64³ (talk) 19:22, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You guys deserve the name-calling. Also, how is this logic "faulty"? Why do you accept kids having sex with anyone, you pedophile enablers? Why do you want kids to look up, learn about, know about and do inappropriate things and other stuff like that? I hope the police check your guys' computers, devices, electronics and hard drives for child porn and arrest you for it. You guys ABSOLUTELY, 100% deserve to be in jail. FreezingTNT (talk) 19:25, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The conversation was not about the ability of children to consent to having sex until you steered it that way; when you encountered good counterarguments to your arguments, you turned to insults and logical fallacies while failing to provide a sufficient response to the counterarguments. Please stop this behavior immediately; either be civil when discussing this or drop it. Refusal to do either may result in your block becoming sitewide. Tali64³ (talk) 19:35, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Can you at least agree that no one under the age of 18 should ever see, know about, look up, learn about or be exposed to anything that is inappropriate? FreezingTNT (talk) 19:36, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello? FreezingTNT (talk) 18:54, January 28, 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Your block has been extended to 2 weeks not only for continuation of making additional Mature templates, but also insulting admins and accusing them of supporting pedophilia, and I'm giving you one last chance to stop this or you're blocked indefinitely.
