Plot

SpongeBob and Squidward star in Mrs. Puff's educational driving film.

Qualities That Are Bad Driver

  1. A sequel of "Boat Smarts", which was already average at best and wasn't any better either.
  2. The episode can be summed as filler, especially since it's longer than "Boat Smarts".
  3. Just like "Boat Smarts", SpongeBob is unlikable and a reckless driver.
  4. This may make some fans angry and bring back bad flashbacks, but a track (Roger Roger version) from the Ren & Stimpy "Adult Party Cartoon" episode "Ren Seeks Help" was used, especially with how bad that one episode was and with the incredibly disturbing material "Ren Seeks Help" had.
  5. This episode is also a torture episode for Squidward and is treated very poorly, especially the painful scene where SpongeBob mess with Squidward broken neck.
  6. It is a big rehash from "Boat Smart", while yes this is a sequel episode, it mostly feel more like a rehash due to takong a lot of elements from that episode such as SpongeBob being a bad driver.

Qualities That Are Good Driver

  1. A few funny and creative gags here and there, such as the slow-motion children scene.
  2. All thanks to the storyboarders as well as Eddie Trigueros' over-the-top face expressions and poses here, the animation is still well-done and is very colorful.
    • SpongeBob's "film" is pretty creative to look on.
  3. Much like Boat Smarts Mrs. Puff, Squidward, and the Bikini Bottomites are still likeable.
  4. Good ending: Unlike Boat Smarts, it's did give SpongeBob a proper comeuppance by Ms. Puff.

Reception

  • While better received then "Boat Smarts", IMDb rated this a 6.7/10 overall with its sister episode, Ma and Pa's Big Hurrah.
