Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks, Noddy, Toyland Detective, Mr. Magoo, Boule & Bill, Denver the Last Dinosaur, and Tara Duncan weren't the only horrible French reboots we had there was also this insult to a beloved 90s French icon.

Les Minikeums is a French youth television program broadcast on France 3 from April 7, 1993, to March 31, 2002. A second version of the show aired from December 11, 2017, to August 27, 2021, on France 4.
Why It's Uncanny Now
- Infamous understanding of the source material: The series doesn’t understand why the original 1993 series was good.
- All of the old Minikeums from the 1993 series didn’t return in this reboot and were replaced with forgettable new ones.
- The cast has problems with their characters which will be listed below:
- The new characters have been based on favorite personalities of French children. While Louane and Paul Pogba (depending on your perspective) are still good choices, the rest aren't.
- They added Kev Adams while he's too overrated besides being a bad character. Isn’t that enough for you? read it:
- They added Rihanna although French children do not appreciate her.
- Finally, Norman. This was at the time when he was declining and becoming a terrible YouTuber instead of Cyprien or Joueur du Grenier who were good YouTubers.
- The new characters have been based on favorite personalities of French children. While Louane and Paul Pogba (depending on your perspective) are still good choices, the rest aren't.
- The puppet design is horrible and uncanny while not resembling their original counterparts, especially Rihanna. Which was made LazyTown's wannabe.
- What's not helping is that Alain Duverne, the designer of the original Minikeums puppets, never was involved in this reboot.
- Much like the 2015 Bob the Builder reboot, Fireman Sam since Season 6, the Netflix era of VeggieTales, Postman Pat: Special Delivery Service, Noddy, Toyland Detective, Monster High (2016), the 2016 Powerpuff Girls reboot, Caillou's New Adventures, Les Légendaires and Thomas & Friends: Big World! Big Adventures! & All Engines Go!, the show is trying way too hard to modernize the show (and as always, fails to do so). Because of that, the show doesn’t look like its 1993 counterpart anyhow.
- The dubbing is pretty terrible, to say the least, especially with Keva and Riha.
- The writing is poor and almost seems like an effortless job from the writers of the show.
- The characters are unlovable:
- Kev (worst of all) is a selfish, unkind jerk and is often mistreated and mostly an annoying "Butt Monkey".
- Riha is a seriously unlikable fashion diva who's only here to be a cliché of the perfect woman who can sing.
- Pog, although sympathetic, is also a "Butt-Monkey".
- Normy is the cliché of the nerd and the intellectual.
- Even Loulou, the least bad of all, is a huge "Mary Sue".
- Hirsute is a generic dog without any personality who cries intolerably.
- The show also does badly done music covers too, and because of the awful dubbing it's more like an insult to the clips.
- Speaking of music, the theme song (although decent) is too generic.
- The show tries to be too trendy with cameos from Amir or Neymar or even references to hand spinners.
- Quantity over quality: like ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks or Teen Titans Go! it lasted too long despite the overall reception, with a total of 5 seasons, 348 episodes, and a lifespan of almost four years. This shows how blind France Télévisions is to the criticism of the show.
- Even worse like ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks, Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese, Teen Titans Go! and the last seasons of Johnny Test, it was the cash cow of France 4 (and later OKOO) being overbroadcasted every day occupying 3 hours of the audience.
- The show has no control over the cartoons; They often ramble about some anime series with such examples being:
- Some scenes are reused such as the scene of the rebus during the announcement on Angelo Rules, which was reviewed a second time in another version.
- Of course, they aired bad to average shows:
- Anatole Latuile
- Angelo Rules (season 4)
- Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2017)
- Dennis & Gnasher: Unleashed! (2017)
- Furiki Wheels
- Grizzy & the Lemmings
- Max & Maestro
- Molusco
- Mr. Magoo (2018)
- Nate is Late
- Ninjago Masters of spinjitsu (seasons 7, 10 & 11)
- Pat the Dog
- Power Players
- Rabbids Invasion (season 1-3)
- Sanjay and Craig
- Taffy
- Teen Titans Go!
- The Garfield Show (season 1 & 2)
- ThunderCats Roar
- ToonMarty
- Veggietales (Netflix era)
- All in all, it's forgettable and shows just how similar this infamous show is to other awful reboots.
Redeeming Qualities
- The theme song, although generic, is quite catchy.
- The sets are better than the 1993 series because it is done in real life rather than using computer graphics.
- And of course there are still a handful of good shows like
- Angelo Rules (seasons 1-3)
- DuckTales (2017)
- Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitsu (season 1-6, 8-9, 12-present)
- Rabbids Invasion (season 4)
- The Deep
- The Garfield Show (seasons 3-5)
- The Jungle Bunch: To the Rescue!
- Unikitty!
- VeggieTales
- Zip Zip
Reception
The Minikeums reboot has received a mixed-to-negative reception from fans as it received a 2.9/10 on Senscritique.
