Plot
Scraggs, a raccoon living in the dump, searches for food by entering Mrs. Muchmore's Manor, by disguising as a cat, named Taffy. However, Bentley, a Doberman, finds Taffy's true identity as a raccoon so that Forsythe can kick him out for good.
Bad Qualities
- Nonsensical Premise: Scraggs, a raccoon, disguises himself as a cat, and renames himself as Taffy, in order to sneak into Mrs. Muchmore's Manor just to get food because he is hungry. In real life, raccoons entering houses or mansions can potentially cause trouble because trashing will cause people to kick them out.
- This show rip-offs other slapstick shows, like Looney Tunes, Oggy and the Cockroaches, or even Tom and Jerry.
- Not only them but also to Sidekick, while that show isn't slapstick, it focuses on characters getting into terrible situations and creating a huge "Yank the Dog's Chain" moment at the end of each episode.
- The designs and animation reuses art from another French show, Zip Zip, but that one is much better than this.
- The main character, Taffy, is unlikable in many episodes.
- Speaking of which, with the exception of Taffy, Bentley, and Addie, the characters' names are questionable and laughable, such as Mrs. Muchmore, Forsythe, Binikos, Dr. Hurtz, Mr. Fuffermin, Mish and Mash, Mrs. Highcost, Mrs. Networth, and Mrs. Allperfect, etc.
- There are many bad episodes due to how mean-spirited it is:
- Enter the Kitty (which started the show on a sour note)
- A Minor Problem
- I Now Pronounce You Dog and Cat
- D.N.A OK
- Staycation
- The White Gloves
- Cute or Boot
- License to Kale
- Whisper to a Scream
- Pet Therapist
- A Star Is Born
- Flowers for Bentley
- Taffyzilla
- Raccoon Moon
- Climate Control Freaks
- The Cat's Pajamas
- Logging Off
- The Flea Party
- Jitter Fever
- The Recall
- The Upgrade
- Honey, I Shrunk the Raccoon
- Petty Shack
- Mrs. ZZZ
- Spotted (the banned episode, due to COVID-19 Pandemic)
- Twin or Lose
- Besties
- I Love Lamp
- Squeakophobia
- Clone Sweet Clone
- Silence of the Slams
- A Maze In and Out
- Snapped
- Hero Worship
- There are some episodes that try to be hip and cool due to the use of modern technology, such as Cute or Boot using the drones to take cute pictures of animals and the entirety of Logging Off, featuring Addie using a camera to make memes.
- The humor can also be gross out and inappropriate at times:
- In most episodes, Taffy is seen eating Caviar or other foods, specifically junk foods, which is fattening in real-life.
- Some episodes feature at least one character who is naked due to mishaps.
- Bentley and Mr. Fuffermin are seen kissing, which disgusts both of them, but Taffy sees the picture to the latter about what he has done with the former.
- Dr. Hurtz uses dangerous dental tools on Bentley because he has awful dog breath in Laughy Taffy, which is very dangerous.
- Binikos kissing and touching Mrs. Muchmore's foot in The Recall.
- Binikos is seen dating a sandbag dressing up as Mrs. Muchmore in Caged.
- Taffy vomiting Mish and Mash just to let them escape in the basement.
- Monster Addie vomits after eating too many cabbages in Little Monster.
- Some of the lines can be impossible, such as Caged, where Bentley is sent to the pound for 10 years because he has no license to promote as a guard dog, which makes no sense.
- Same goes with Raccoon Moon and Spotted where he suffer karma, due to the Dog Star and red spots on Bentley's back respectively, for 6 weeks/months., making these situations impossible in real-life.
- In some episodes aired on Boomerang Asia, most of the scenes are cut due to how inappropriate it is:
- As mentioned above, Binikos dating an object, which is objectophillia.
- The ending of The Flea Party is infamous, with everyone, except Taffy, Mish, and Mash, is seen naked because the animal control shaves and showers due to fleas.
- Mrs. Muchmore showering is cut in the episode Caged, despite her showering in Citizen Taffy, which makes no sense.
- Taffy uses a magnifier glass to remove all Bentley's fur, but the bottom area is not shown.
- It has many plot holes and errors due to the rushed animation.
- Almost all episodes have "Yank the Dog's Chain" moments, resulting in good or bad endings being given throughout, rather than giving normal endings in each of them.
Good Qualities
- There are likable characters in this show, such as Bentley, Mrs. Muchmore and Forsythe.
- There are a handful of good episodes:
- Bentley's Girlfriend
- Cat Burglar
- The Eye of the Raccoon
- Old Home Reek
- Racoon in a Guilted Cage
- The Guard Dog
- New Leaf Taffy
- The New Mrs. Muchmore
- Caged
- The Rival
- My Fair Puppy
- Flying High
- The Return of Scraggs
- Boot Camp Manor
- Raccoon Day and The New Mrs. Muchmore show that Mrs. Muchmore is aware of Taffy being a raccoon and she has the right to call out for him.
- There are heartwarming moments from here and there.
- The season 2 is a bit better and offer much more environnements than the first season.
- The art style is nice.
