Qualitipedia:Bureaucrat election June 2024

The election has closed on June 26th. The results:

• Tali64³: Successful with 4 support.
• Money12123: Unsuccessful with a single oppose and no support.
• Pacman64fanj: Successful with a strong 11 support.
• SpaceProtagonist: Successful adding support votes in a staff poll through discord from CJ and TheSun, bringing it up to 4 support.

Best of luck to Tali, Pacman and SpaceProtagonist as the new chiefs of Qualitipedia.

Introduction

Due to the upcoming retirement of Raidarr and effective inactivity of CJ, the wiki requires new bureaucrats to carry the torch. The following candidates have put themselves forward in this blog and are now available for community vote: Tali, Money, Pacman and SpaceProtagonist (authorized to leave a section for his election just after opening). Success is considered to be a 3/4 (75%) support to oppose ratio. Members of autoconfirmed level + and have been members of the wiki since June 3rd, 2024 may vote - votes from accounts that do not meet this requirement will be discounted. This will last until June 26th (possibly extended if there is controversy to work out), at which point control will be handed over to the new bureaucrat(s). Multiple may be promoted, in which case they will be considered equals and are expected to work with each other.

Responsibilities include leading/managing the staff, guiding the community (including the discord server), being the last line of appeal in case of disputes (as well as being neutral mediators for them otherwise), and working with Original Authority as needed to remain compliant with Telepedia Content Policy and to address technical issues, but also ensure he is free of being disturbed or needed for minor/community level problems.

This is a one-off process: elected bureaucrats may use something like this again in the future or completely revise it. A more democratic model is recommended going forward (this can include formal RfCs) but this process sets no guidelines on that.

Statement from candidate: Thank you for the nomination. As many of you may know, I am the founder and currently sole bureaucrat of the Netpedia reception wiki network, responsible for simplifying the quality standards and ruleset of a majority of the internet reception wikis. This wiki has had its share of issues and debates; while debate is natural and I do not discourage it as long as it is civil, the type of debates that are common on this wiki often end up in edit wars and insults; I will make sure to prevent this from happening to the largest extent I can. I am also working and will continue to work on a variety of improvements for this wiki, such as this redesign of the main page inspired by the old Qualitipedia wikis. Statement from candidate: Hello. Thank you for the nomination. I am a bureaucrat on several reception wikis myself, and I am more than willing to become one here as well. I have many plans to improve this wiki, as I intend to go through all pages on this wiki and review them to assure that they follow a certain of manual of style, have strong pointers, and are supported by reception. I will also attempt to fully restore the content of the old wikis for the sake of history while also assuring this wiki's pages are still of good quality. Statement from candidate: Hi, everyone. I'm sure they you're all familiar with who I am and some of the modifications I've made for the wiki. I've got a couple of plans for the wiki that I feel could help us out. Over the past couple of days, the site's key issues were starting to become a lot more glaring to me. That's why I've been trying to do some cleanup as best I can, while also making sure to stay respectful and be willing to listen to others' thoughts, as long as they're reasonable. I'm more than willing to put in the research for pages, and I have some interests outside of this site, working on several other wikis and making time to balance my personal life.   • I'm talking about the overabundance of negative media pages on here, and how the wiki's been getting overly pessimistic lately with various pages about suggestive content being treated like the worst thing ever and often not having redeeming pointers, regardless of whether the work actually condemns said content or if it's not even meant for adults, AI-created media is supposedly barred from having redeeming qualities even though it's not even inappropriate. ...And then there's the porn and pedophilia pages, which seem to have been created for the sole purpose of bashing them, and benefit absolutely no one. -- I even marked some of them for deletion. (Also, someone updated the main page with even MORE negative media pages, even though there was a clear warning not to.) SpaceProtagonist (talk) 16:04, June 13, 2024 (UTC)
