Trolls de Troy (English: Trolls of Troy) is a French cartoon adapted from a comic book of the same name.
Plot
In the world of Troy, where all kinds of strange creatures live, there is a small troll village named Phalompe. If the troll is tall, sturdy, carnivorous, as stupid as it is friendly, and not handsome, Waha stands out from the lot… Indeed, this young girl is a pretty human who was adopted and raised by a Troll family. While all the young trolettes in the village are already 1.80m tall, covered in long hair, and have their first flies, Waha, who is the size of a 12-year-old girl, remains desperately hairless and does not attract any small animals.
Why it's a MEGA Troll (but not in a good way)
- Horrendous grasp of the source material: Similar to other bad shows like Les Légendaires, Titeuf (season 4), Lanfeust Quest, Les Sisters, Les p'tits Diables, Tara Duncan and its 2021 reboot, Le monde selon Kev and the 2016 reboot of Boule & Bill the series is highly unfaithful to the book in which it is adapted.
- Similar to Mortal Kombat and Les Légendaires, they have adapted gore and violent work into a cartoon for children.
- Flash animation ranging from meh to just goofy with a horrible graphic style that bears no resemblance to the book.
- The art style is completely horrible and unfaithful to the comics because where the book relies on a fairly realistic style, the cartoon spoils while offering a fairly cartoonish style and completely generic.
- The main characters are out of character and bear no resemblance to their comic book counterparts notably Waha who does not resemble her counterpart and looks much younger.
- Terrible and nasty humor made up of toilet humor.
- Hypocrisy: The basic concept of comics is to see violence and cannibalism, to see trolls and Waha eating people in a very gory way except that by adapting it into a cartoon they have removed the whole concept and: icing on the cake, saying that cannibalism is bad.
- Abysmal and horrible writing.
- Boring theme song that screams "It's for the kids".
- Quantity over quality: Although it was a single season, it ran for nearly 80 episodes. It was treated like royalty by Gulli for being over broadcast, showing that the show is blind to criticism.
- Overall, it's forgettable and it shows how animation, especially comic book adaptations, is bland, terrible, and suitable for children who don't know the book, and who enjoy it while frustrating long-time comic book fans.
- Worse still it's probably the worst of all because it ruined a license and destroyed the basic concept of the book where Les Sisters or Les Légendaires focused on the basic principle of their book.
Redeeming Qualities
- It has at least one good French dub.
- Waha have okay passable designs.
- Despite how bad this french show is, Some people like it how charming and imporved better designs. It is still better than Tib & TumTum,
Reception
Trolls de Troy has received mixed to negative reception from fans of the comic it holds a 5.5/10 on IMDb and a 3.7/10 on Senscritique.
