Kev's World (Le Monde Selon Kev) is a French 2D animated series produced by French comedian Kev Adams and My Family with the participation of M6.

Plot

If the world was according to Kev, he would be the star of the school, his teacher would admire his collection of zeros and the pretty Camille would fall in love with him. Yet Kev's daily life is quite different.

Pourquoi Ce N'est Pas Vedette (Why It Wasn't A Star)

  1. Let's get the elephant out of the room: The very idea of doing a show on Kev Adams who is a very famous personality in France was bad from the start given his bad acting.
    • For those who don't know yet he played in bad movies such as:
    • Even he also played in Soda, a French series that was bad.
  2. Poor knowledge of source material: This show was adapted from bad comics and like Les Légendaires, Trolls de Troy, season 4 of Titeuf, Lanfeust Quest, Les Sisters, Les P'tits Diables and the 2016 reboot of Boule et Bill, this show is very unfaithful to the comics it was based on.
  3. Cheap and horrible flash animation that screams "it's for kids".
    • In fact, it looks like it came from Oggy and the Cockroaches animation studio Xilam Animation.
  4. In addition to the horrible flash animation, it has a design of generic and horrible characters to see (in particular Kev's mother or Leo) who seem to be rejected from certain CalArts styles cartoons like Star vs. the Forces of Evil or Gravity Falls or even The Amazing World of Gumball.
    • To be fair, Camille looks exactly like Star Butterfly, but different. Talk about character lookalikes.
  5. The show suffers from generic and unlikable characters like:
    • Kev the main character who is an unlikable idiot and a "Butt-Monkey" often unfairly treated as punching bag by the writers.
    • Leo is the main character's generic best friend.
    • Camille is the main character's generic love interest, plus she's an unlovable Mary Sue.
    • Lola is the generic best friend of the main character's love interest.
    • Stan is the main character's generic rival in addition to being a Gary Stu.
  6. The logo itself looks suspiciously like Alvinnn !!! and the Chipmunks, and I'm not kidding, look.
  7. A really awful theme song which is nothing more than generic rap which they repeat in a loop "Le Monde Selon...".
    • And what's worse is that it is composed by Black M who is nevertheless an excellent rapper.
  8. As in the comic in which it is adapted, the cartoon itself rip-offs Titeuf enormously.
  9. The episodes all start with "Le jour... (English: The Day ...)" which is a lack of inspiration.
  10. Wasted potential: as with Little Ellen, the decade is very poorly represented. Kev Adams was born in 1991 so the series must take place in the early 2000s yet it looks like the series takes place in the 2010s since this show is quite "hip".
  11. Quantity over Quality: Similar to other equally bad French shows it lasted 52 episodes in one season.
  12. Overall, this show is nothing but a giant advertisement for Kev Adams.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Surprisingly enough, Kev Adams acts better than in the horrible movies he has acted in.
  2. At least the art style respects comics.
  3. As with the majority of French shows, it has a very good French dub.

Reception

Identical to the comic, the cartoon received a negative reception from critics and the public because it was a giant advertisement for Kev Adams. The show holds a 2.6/10 on Senscritique and a 2.8/10 on IMDb.
