Gulli (Stylised as gulli) (French pronunciation: [gy. li]) is a French free-to-air television channel focused on kids programming for those aged 3 to 14. It created a result as a partnership between Lagardère Active and state-owned broadcaster France Télévisions. In 2019, the M6 Group bought Gulli as well as the television division of the Lagardère Active Group.

It's not by inviting an awful singer that you can hope to make the channel cool.

Why It's Not Part of the Familli Anymore

  1. The main problem with this channel is they made a terrible choice by choosing to be bought by M6.
    • Basically, they had bought either by M6 or by Xilam.
      • Except that on the one hand there was a company of competent cartoons which made very good shows, and on the other a very bad channel known for some horrible cartoons in addition to their bad programs.
  2. Worse still, this takeover led to the deprogramming of several programs beloved by fans and which never returned despite fan requests, such as: Atomic Betty, Space Goofs, Ratz, Shuriken School, Rosie, Galactik Football, Street Football or Beyblade Metal Fusion/Master/Fury.
  3. In fact, the takeover of the TV channel by M6 caused the TV channel to lose its charm. It's along the same fate as 6ter, another TV channel belonging to M6 because it became a trash can from which M6 broadcast their original series either too old or rejected as Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks, Les Sisters, Malcolm in the Middle, My Wife and Kids, LEGO Masters, Le Meilleur Patissier (French adaptation of The Great British Bake-Off) or En Famille.
  4. Quantity over quality: Similar to Nickelodeon, The channel is trying too hard to be trendy, for example. during the Gu-Live prime on July 1, 2022, they invited Wejdene, a horrible French singer who produced infamous songs and who is adored by the children but hated by the public.
  5. Speaking of that, the channel wanted to compete with France 4's block Les Minikeums by presenting Gu'Live, a horrible block intended for children who broadcast terrible programs.
    • During school holidays, the block was also shown every day from Monday to Friday.
    • The block has since then been replaced by a game show, Mission Gulliverse.
  6. Similar to Cartoon Network with Teen Titans Go!, the channel treats many good or bad programs as their cash cow by excessively over-broadcasting them such as:
    • Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks: The most infamous example that's over-processed and subjected to the airing of multiple episodes in a row. Thankfully, it doesn't air on the channel anymore, as it's paid reruns moved from Nickelodeon to Canal J.
    • Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese: (Although not bad from your point of view) is another example of a show being pushed by the channel in hopes of finding a successor to what was around in the early 2010s.
    • The Loud House, although not bad in the early seasons, was also treated excessively by the channel and occupied several audience's time.
    • Zig & Sharko, although not terrible in the early seasons, is an infamous example of over-broadcasting they're unfairly hated by several people and becoming a very underrated show.
  7. Unlike Okoo (France Televisions) and Disney Channel, its lifelong rival, the channel abuses advertising by broadcasting them for at least 5 minutes, several times in a row.
  8. They deprogrammed In ze boîte, the channel's game show, despite Joan's request for the return of her show.
  9. Back then and during this era, they're some terrible programs such as:
  10. In addition to horrible programs, they also broadcast bad live action series like:
  11. They have mistreated shows such as SpongeBob SquarePants, which hardly even airs on the channel anymore and only returns for brief moments.
  12. The majority of cult blocks have been replaced, and their names are named.
    • Code Aventure has become Gulli Go.
    • Méchamment Drole has become Gulli Toon.
    • Girl Power has become Gulli Pop.
    • All those blocks have since been discontinued, with the only blocks now being Gulli Up, Gulli Midi, and Gulli Good.
  13. They have also broadcast horrible films such as The Emoji Movie, the Alvin and the Chipmunks quadrilogy, The Smurfs deology, Kev Adams' 2 Aladdin films, The Lorax, and many bad others.
  14. On September 1, 2016, the Russian feed of Gulli was renamed to Gulli Girl because of the "success of the Girl Power block", and now only broadcasts show geared towards a "female audience", thus pandering to the "It's made for girls/boys" excuse. Despite the feed having a feminist nature, it still broadcasts shows that don't feel like they are geared towards girls, including Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese, The Garfield Show and Zig and Sharko.
  15. Broadly similar to Bom Dia & Cia in its last years on the air, it's a huge downgrade or even falls that turned the channel into a slot machine that doesn't know how to handle it at all and still hasn't recovered from its fall and because of that many fans stopped to watch the channel.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. It was a good channel, before it was taken over by M6.
  2. There are always good cartoons like:
  3. There are also good series like Malcolm in the Middle, My Wife and Kids, the first two seasons of The Saddle Club, Yo Soy Frankie or Power Rangers Beast Morphers.
  4. The 2017 rebrand was good. The 2023 rebrand, however, is a little worse.
